Ich hoste mit #Yunohost meine eigenen Dienste. Darunter z.b. #invidious#searxng und #xmpp. Nun wollte ich gerne mal nachfragen, wie sicher das ganze ist, wenn ich z.b. Die Suchmaschine und auch XMPP öffentlich ins Netz stellen würde; was muss beachtet werden? Oder sollte ich davon ganz absehen?
@kris "SSH am besten nur intern zugänglich machen" Yunohost läuft auf einem Cloud (Shared) Server bei Hetzner. Da ist das mit intern wohl nicht so einfach 😀 Oder habe ich dich da falsch verstanden?
@gnox Ah... ich dachte es handelt sich um einen Homeserver. Naja, zumindestens auf einen nicht standard SSH port wechseln und wenn das nicht bei Yunohost eh immer aktiv ist, dann fail2ban installieren.
Man kann auch ein VPN server installieren und SSH dann wirklich nur von "innen" erreichen, aber keine Ahnung ob das mit Yunohost einfach möglich ist.
Startpage, Qwant und SearXNG. Weitere datenschutzfreundliche Suchmaschinen kenne ich aktuell nicht. Ist da noch etwas auf dem Markt, dass ich übersehe?
running a #SearXNG docker takes so much ram!
like around 600MB! and out of my 2gb ram #RaspberryPi that's a ton.
I also run a Nextcloud docker and that's around 260MB.
(both when idle).
might have to find an alternative.
Tho at this point, coming from my home WiFi, it doesn't give all that much more privacy since I keep the same IP address.
Die selbst gehostete #Suchmaschine#SearXNG macht auch auf meinem kleinen #Server eine recht passable Arbeit.
Die Suchergebnisse sind bis hierhin zufriedenstellend.
An der Geschwindigkeit könnte noch gearbeitet werden, aber das liegt wohl mehr an meinem Server.
What’s everyone’s favorite self-hosted metasearch engine? I was using #SearX, but it’s no longer maintained. Thinking of moving over to #SearXNG? Any reason not to? Not sure why NG split off from SearX other than internal disputes (I think).
@michaelthinks searX is more cautious in development whereas SearXNG moves much faster. One notable conflict is SearXNG's inclusion of an "engine stats" feature (can be disabled in config) to show historical reliability of each engine, which searX believes to be anti-privacy (since it shows the general usage pattern of an instance). Anyways, SearXNG is much more actively developed even before searX's abandonment, so you should definitely switch.
