sugar_in_your_tea,

My Internet bill includes the following:

  • price

That’s it. I pay exactly the amount that they list on the website. No promotions, no taxes, no fees, they list the price and I pay exactly that amount.

Why is that so hard? Just advertise your price, and charge that amount.

CIWS-30,

If it's too hard, then just stop charging them. Then they have to list NOTHING. So simple. At the very least, it'll just whittle down the fees they have to list to government mandated ones, which'll be a lot simpler.

Didn't read the article I'm guessing...?

CaptObvious,

I mean, the simple solution is to stop charging fees that they don’t want to list.

SkyezOpen,

It’s not too hard, they just don’t want to put a name to the “because we feel like it” fee and the “go fuck yourself” fee and everyone’s favorite, “why don’t you switch providers then oh wait you can’t because we conspire to enable monopolies in certain areas” fee.

nogooduser,

It actually must be very simple to just list the charges that can be applied.

They must have an accounting system that has them all listed otherwise they couldn’t charge for them. Presumably they also have a description that goes on the bill unless they just have a single line on the bill and no breakdown.

As you say, the most difficult part is thinking of a name for each one that makes it sound like a reasonable charge.
