@publicvoit Debian doesn't offer that majority of software I use out of the box and using out of tree sources is usually up for upgrade disaster.

And if I need to use containers, then I might as well use something which focuses on that.

@publicvoit @kravemir When a easy to use module doesn't exist in Nix, you usually have to fallback to writing appropriate config files or gsettings commands for gnome for instance.

I agree it can be intensive.

I saw you dislike the nix language. Have you considered guix?

@ParetoOptimalDev I've briefly considered GUIX but decided for NixOS because of the larger number of packages and community members.

This was a trade-off between Lisp and hopefully less manual work.

Didn't turn out the way I presumed.
