#DayOfTheTriffids so. English flic. gather that it is plants eating people. Title suggests that all the action happens in 24 hours, or maybe even 12 (day,) but who knows how literal the filmmakers were. Triffids sounds cute, though. Also, isn’t England known for gardening? interesting post war paranoid freudian thought to have garden plants attack england. there is a tension there, I think. music is terrible but it’s early 60’s sci fi, so.
a man who in times that are orderly , gets drunk and drinks himself blind but when the shit hits the fan becomes clear sighted calm, cool and collected. dollars to doughnuts, he survives. He lives, As contrasted to so many peers who thrived in England’s order, who are now blind and/or dead. i mean, unlike “Melancholia,” someone must survive, right? it’s just stinging outer space plants that can’t be killed, yet….. spreading everywhere. #dayofthetriffids
Boarding up the (light)house? This is a zombie movie.
"It's like being nailed in your own coffin." Oh this movie has some really good lines. Very on the nose but good. #Monsterdon#DayoftheTriffids
Wait they are alien plants? That arrived before the cosmic light show? That seems extra complicated for dandelions of death. #Monsterdon#DayoftheTriffids
Wait the horrible plants are weak to fire AND water? I haven't played alot of Pokemon, but I don't think it works that way. #Monsterdon#DayoftheTriffids
@jonny@irenes It's explained in a scene in France that the plants arrived years ago from space but were tiny and inert until the meteor shower that blinded everyone. That's when they got big, stabby and hungry. #Monsterdon#DayOfTheTriffids
