It’s Monday!! It’s also the three year anniversary of the release of the Mastodon-famous song “It’s Always Monday On The Moon”

Written for future moon workers spending long hours doing dangerous work in a lethal environment, my song is about how quickly the enthusiasm for a job like this may disappear quickly due to the isolation and monotonous routine.

Here are the lyrics, for anyone struggling with that awful Australian accent… 😁

All Zombies Go To Heaven
~

I got clouds in my head and I’m feeling kinda dizzy.
My eyes kinda hurt and my hair is all frizzy.
This jacket smells bad and I stepped in something squishy.
I’m feeling kinda hungry, so I gotta get busy.

Walking to the beat and everything is gritty.
Boarded up houses but the gardens look pretty.
Get with the crew and we start to get giddy.
We’re drawn down the street by the promise of the city.

I may fall today,
But I don’t need no confession.
It doesn’t hurt to pray,
But I’ve still got my depression.
Searching for some brains,
It’s kinda my obsession.
I think it’s safe to say,
All zombies go to heaven.

You can see the meat hanging out to dry.
They think they’re safe and believe that lie.
But behind their walls they start to cry.
They see us coming and we won’t die.

We are the hoard and we grow every day.
Trying to make it in a world decayed.
We can’t talk. Got nothing to say,
Paying the price that we all have to pay.

I may fall today,
But I don’t need no confession.
It doesn’t hurt to pray,
But I’ve still got my depression.
Searching for some brains,
It’s kinda my obsession.
I think it’s safe to say,
All zombies go to heaven.
All zombies go to heaven.
I may fall today,
But I don’t need no confession.
It doesn’t hurt to pray,
But I’ve still got my depression.
Searching for some brains,
It’s kinda my obsession.
I think it’s safe to say,
All zombies go to heaven.
All zombies go to heaven.
All zombies,
Go to heaven.

Looking to get into but don’t know where to start?

Not sure which song is right for you?

Here’s a handy guide to help you choose your special track!

Looking for a good pub rock song with rip-your-face-off guitars and sing-along chorus? Try the heavy-rock sounds of “Proud Woman”.
https://songwhip.com/dgar/proud-woman

Perhaps something more orchestral is to your liking? I offer you the instrumental “Icarus”.
https://songwhip.com/dgar/icarus

If you enjoy a little synth in your rock, there’s the Mastodon Monday favourite “It’s Always Monday On The Moon”.
https://songwhip.com/dgar/its-always-monday-on-the-moon

Maybe you’re in the mood for a good soppy love song? I’ve got you covered… in pure sop. Just me and a clean Fender Stratocaster with “Cilla”
https://soundcloud.com/dgarmusic/cilla

How about a dark emotional bass number with “Only the Music”?
https://songwhip.com/dgar/only-the-music

Or a poppin’ pop song might be what you’re craving. “Space Pop” even!
https://songwhip.com/dgar/space-pop

No? Ummm… oh! I know! Driving rock song! “Little Black Hatchback” with the synth solo and vroom vroom car sounds…
https://songwhip.com/dgar/littleblackhatchback

Still no? Okay then. Stoner rock!! You like that right? “Gettin’ Stoned”.
https://songwhip.com/dgar/gettinstoned

Rebellious grunge? There’s “Flat World” which has nothing to do with Flat Earth, in case anyone was thinking that.
https://songwhip.com/dgar/flat-world

Well okay, it does go a bit progressive-rock with “Splinter In The Minds Eye”.
https://soundcloud.com/dgarmusic/splinter-in-the-minds-eye

Greek Mythology? There’s a bit of that with “Daedalus”.
https://songwhip.com/dgar/daedalus

Okay, how about an angry angsty thrashy breakup song? “Anymore”
https://soundcloud.com/dgarmusic/anymore

Alright, I’m running out of songs here… surely I can find something for you… umm. The space-rock song that fails to answer that age old question of ‘what she said’ - “Airlock”
https://songwhip.com/dgar/airlock2024

My ‘Indie Musician Anthem’ with rock guitar, two-note guitar solo, and mosh-dance bass? “Digital Busker”
https://songwhip.com/dgar/digitalbusker

Here’s my last hope. This is “Stupid”.
https://songwhip.com/dgar/stupid2024

Well, there is one more. If you like punk rock songs about zombies, that is, but you’ll need to wait for Fedivision 2024 to start before you can listen to “All Zombies Go To Heaven”.
