My is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, & spectacular far & wide.

THIS WRETCHED VALLEY by Jenny Kiefer is one of the most satisfying and scary "survival horror" books I've read. Innocent adventuring quickly ricochets into a Thin Place nightmare where weird wilderness & horrors run amok. It's creepy, fast-paced, and a fantastic, fun book to get lost in. (Quirk Books)

As I'm writing and developing my horror story, I'm getting fonder of one character in the story. What a strange feeling.

11:55 p.m. and in writing mode now.
And nothing better to make my night great with a dose of Goth Rock music, while I think about my favorite character in my future horror story.

Has anyone read this? I've been trying to listen to it at work but I just can't get into it.

I generally don't abandon a book but considering.

Does it get better?

They say that the music you loved at 14 years of age shapes your musical tastes for life. Those are the songs that evoke the memories you can slide into the easiest.

I feel the same things applies to books.

At 13 I had a ravenous appetite for books that took me outside of the ridiculousness of early teen emotions and situations; and catapulted me into what I considered maturity - lust, vileness, tortured souls, darkness and disparity.

Current listen: Zombies: More Recent Dead

"In this hefty anthology of 22 short stories originally published between 2000 and 2010, zombies run the gamut from shambling, mindless killers to transformed super-cool high school students."

One of the most interesting stories so far has been Iphigenia in Aulis by Mike Carey. Zombie children on a military base who are being schooled, in a way.

Happy STEPHEN KING DAY!
If you have a Stephen King collection, share it in honor of his birthday!

Here's mine, and what remains of the paperbacks I still have. I had many more but have given them away or they've died over the years 😂
