Vaguely pondering the stellar supporting cast in 's (1999):

Jeffrey Jones
Christopher Lee
Ian McDiarmid
Michael Gough
Ray Park
Peter Guinness
Martin Landau
Richard Griffiths

I've always loved the movie for its story, its -ness, and its main cast. The story really could have used more in it, but still.

The men of this supporting cast really do deserve all the shout-outs. The film could not have been its , drama-laden best without them.

in : Death of Eleanor Sleath (1770 Oct 15–1847 May 05), best known for her 1798 novel The Orphan of the Rhine, listed as one of the 7 ‘horrid novels’ recommended by Isabella Thorpe in Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey.
(‘The Northanger Horrid Novels’ were believed to be of Austen’s own invention until Montague Summers began publishing on the seven, refuting the denial of their existence. Other scholars soon followed suit.)

DEAD CAN DANCE - IN THE KINGDOM OF THE BLIND THE ONE-EYED ARE KINGS

This powerful track from Dead Can Dance's 1988 album "The Serpent's Egg" explores themes of power and societal limitations. Its blend of ethereal vocals, medieval instrumentation, and driving percussion creates a uniquely captivating soundscape.

Just came across the new song "Left on Mars" by Marko Hietala and Tarja Turunen.

I really like the song.

Interesting that these two Nightwish alumni have got together.

Talking of new songs, I also came across a collaboration between Saltatio Mortis and Faun. The song is called "Schwarzer Strand", and is absolutely superb.

...and there is bagpipes. 😃

Sorry, no links. I've only found it on that video site owned by Google.

40 years ago today, Dead Can Dance released their self-titled debut.
The start of one of music's most intriguing artistic collaborations.

"We’ve got something weird between us, there is something between Brendan and I when we work together that is really strong, something I’ve never found with anyone else.
It hurts. There is pain, there are blessings, there are moments of great beauty." - Lisa Gerrard
