Somehow, was out of carts. I don't know how that happens. There were people waiting at the entrance, trailing other people to their cars to grab their carts.

"No sweat," I told the security people at the store entrance. "I brought my own cart."

Same bike, but this time the shot from behind the rear wheel. A black pannier hangs from the rear rack. The bike frame is white, with a blue box on a black platform. A hailong battery sits atop the platform. Same groceries in the box.

@enobacon This is the same Costco where someone stole the seat off my ~6 months ago. So I am absolutely going to do this every time. The flag has been planted.

I started out the adventure thinking, "rather than park next to the street risking theft and having to deal with getting the cart on the elevator, why not bike right into the parking garage (descending from 1st FL to basement) and park next to the actual store entrance?" Then they were out of carts, and so...

This is making me realize that I should get a cheap front rack for the . Not only can I not justify $200 for 's Bread Basket front rack (that's 20% of the cost of the bike itself!), but I'm worried that it would be too wide for its current storage spot, it would get stolen due to the quick release, and the additional front weight would be awkward when I put the bike vertically to work on it.

Me, checking to see if my #Yuba #Kombi has even the slightest hint of horizonal drop-outs that would make installing an internal gear hub easier:

"Fuck."

Things I regret about today:

While riding through the MASSIVE puddles (ponds) on the trails of in the pouring rain - telling my on the back of my mid-tail bike"legs up!" just before going through them, and having him purposefully put his feet down and yell WHEEEEE as he got his legs soaked in the massive spray. And not capturing that joy on video camera, because I haven't bothered to set up my old .

I don't think I've posted a full pic yet of my with 750W mid-drive motor installed. It's got a 48V 12Ah battery from installed (form factor: G56). So far I've ridden 45mi and the battery is at roughly 50%, so I'm expecting a comfortable range of 65-70mi per charge.

Pic of the ebikeçs (model 500c) color display while idle (0mph). It shows 45.6 miles on the trip so far, with 48.1V and 50% bar gauge left on the battery.

I installed the new BBS02 motor onto the Yuba Kombi last night without any problems. Where I did run into problems was getting the battery installed. The hailong G56 battery does fit in the frame, but afaict doesn't allow sliding out unless I drill some new holes right where the battery plugs into the base. I obviously don't want to start drilling until I'm 100% sure it'll work, but also there's no way to hold the base down and test the battery slide/release without using bolts. 🤷

42T -> 46T front chainring upgrade for the , when the new mid-drive motor arrives.

Verified over the past week biking around with and without kids that I never really touch the lower gears on the bike.

I'm considering a for getting my kid to kindergarten. How long are wait times on ordering ebikes in the US nowadays? Anyone got recommendations?

@terri My arrived in a week (6 months ago). Every bakfiet/longjohn I've ever bought has involved months of waiting, so that was a nice surprise.
