We need to talk about rate limiting. If somebody posts a huge number of posts within a short period (say, 50 posts over a 3 hour period) this is one heck of a #SensoryOverload for me. Sometimes there may be good reasons for a huge burst of posts (a contemporaneous event or long post being split into many micro posts. Notwithstanding, it is overload for me.
I wonder if there would be a way for @MonaApp to somehow apply an auto-mute when somebody is burst posting?
To #blind#techies, does anyone have any suggestions for a pair of noise canceling #headphones purchasable on #Amazon that can connect to my computer running #Windows10, preferrably wirelessly or through Bluetooth. It's even better if they can somehow also connect to a second device and let me hear when my mom calls my #iPhone. This would be something I could use with my computer on days when our dogs are barking a lot so I don't get such bad #SensoryOverLoad. Of course, they need to also either not have software for the computer, or that software needs to be somewhat #accessible. My budget right now is about $80, but I may have up to $120 or so if I wait a day or two. @mastoblind#ActuallyAutistic#accessibility#iOS#tech#technology#Windows#WindowsTen
A sharp rap of a metal utensil against a metal mixing bowl from 5-10 meters away can already be on the threshold of sensory overload.
The same thing but within a meter of my left ear feels like someone jamming a rod down my ear, sapping of all of my energy and the throbbing of the left half of my head and neck.
Being #ActuallyAutistic, I find any unnecessary beeps, alarms, ring-tones - phones, vehicles reversing, microwaves, alarms on machines in cafes and coffee shops - not only annoying, but the high-pitch of them, designed to draw attention, wreaks havoc with my #SensoryOverload.
Hey #ActuallyAutistic folks:
Are noseplugs a thing? Like earplugs, but for when the smell in the room is just too much?
If so, where do you buy them? I would very much like some #recommendations.
Me, looking at the post Chris mentions, having disabled MFM animations and running some custom CSS to keep everything at x1 size. And all I see is my own personal bliss. 😌 Yeah, I find MFM animations and swirling large text quite overwhelming.
Turn of MFM animations & stick the following code in your custom CSS area of the settings:
