How the heck do in-ear buds not irritate the Hell out of everyone?? 😵‍💫

I was well into adulthood when I finally figured out why no bath towel ever seems absorbent enough.

  1. I'm #ActuallyAutistic; so, any moisturev at all on my skin greatly bothers me.

  2. Skin soaks up water like a sponge. Even if you remove all the surface moisture, some water absorbed by the skin still makes its way back out to the surface.

  3. Most bath towels truly are awful regardless.

I noticed many years ago, that certain fabrics, materials, clothing types irritate my skin less when it's sufficiently cold enough in winter. I wonder why that is. 🤔

Cars driving in the rain (or more accurately, on wet pavement) are much louder than I would have thought—especially when we live this close to major roads.

A sharp rap of a metal utensil against a metal mixing bowl from 5-10 meters away can already be on the threshold of sensory overload.

The same thing but within a meter of my left ear feels like someone jamming a rod down my ear, sapping of all of my energy and the throbbing of the left half of my head and neck.

A friend who vlogs about solo travel noticed a sign about sensory sensitivity aboard a cruise ship today. Has anyone had experience with their "sensory inclusivity" program or ?

A person sitting near me in the train had an astonishingly intense aura of perfume. I'm quietly content with myself for recognizing I was getting overwhelmed, and moving to sit somewhere else.

Seriously, though, why would anyone put on so much perfume?!

I'm slowly getting used to the idea that my previous doubts that I have any were flawed. On that topic, if anyone could explain to me why so many manufacturers insist on stitching necklines & bras with actual literal barbed wire, that'd be great, thanks. 🤯

This is a mobile game love letter.

I jump around phone games but I inevitably come back to Zenkoi. It's such a perfect game. Predictable. No forced goals. No time outs (kinda, but the egg waits haven't forced me to stop playing). I've spent something like $2 CAD on it once so it has no popup ads.

Sensory issues? Zenkoi.
Out of executives? Zenkoi.
Need to kill a small amount of time and can't get absorbed into an activity? Zenkoi.

@actuallyautistic Curious if this makes sense to any #ActuallyAutistic friends.

Recently someone said #InnerChild work has been helpful, which makes sense to me.

Meanwhile, reading #UniquelyHuman by #BarryPrizant is helpful, but focuses on the issues of and working with children, not sixty something's like me. So I've struggled to see how to apply his insights.

Just realised... I can apply them directly, to my inner child. Bingo! 🥳

I can be so slow to make connections.🤦‍♂️

Thoughts?

Anybody else digging the "kid core" thing? Children's clothing is so much more interesting and colorful!!! (They also tend to be softer ) Of course I'd prefer clothes with similar color schemes but printed with ghosts but still...

Same. I think about clothing (as a concept) all the time. Anything stiff or constricting is way out. #SensoryIssues #)I don't care as long as it has cartoons😆😆😆

I once saw a great analogy about sensory issues that used some sort of silos or tanks for the different senses and how they overflow into the other once they are full. Can't find it again. Anyone know what I'm talking about and can point me in a direction?
