There's a series on YouTube about training GPT to play Starcraft II. I’m familiar with the game and how the top games play at tournaments and so I was curious about how game replay packs from tournaments could be used to train the model to implement all of the actions a player must do in a game in response to their opponent. But it appears it is very basic and does not actually do anything that uses replay packs to determine the build orders, tactics or various strategies used during the early, mid and late game stages. It is a good example that just because you are using GPT it does not mean you are creating an intelligent system. This may be early days for this project, but it appears so far it has only implemented basic pre-defined sequences instead of an AI which is able to react to in-game situations. #Starcraft2#GPT#AI https://youtu.be/DsJEmmB1qU0?si=kshyvaT9K2I2v1Hg
A few nasty people are not even hiding that they are smurf accounts on Battle.net. Like 350APM average at 3500-3600MMR and a history of quick quitting their games several times in a row. I don’t understand how Blizzard can’t even bother to script an auto ban on them with this kind of obvious pattern 😅 #Starcraft2
It's interesting to watch the twilight of Starcraft 2, a game I used to watch avidly, then lost interest for a bit because of Blizzard shenanigans.
It's old enough now that uThermal has retired from professional play and is now casting games and sponsoring tournaments, which is something I didn't think I would live to see, a pro-level casting from an ex-professional SC2 player. Shows the necessity to keep a game running long enough so we can see insights from professionals on the mind games at play, and why AI still hasn't dominated SC2 play.
#Kerrigan in #Starcraft 1 was about the price she was willing to pay to reclaim her agency and pursue her goals, and about her ingenuity of playing more powerful people against each other to achieve not only her absolute freedom but also reach her own goals.
She actually accepts her fate as Zerg — and proceeds to take over the Zerg to follow her agency instead of the other way around.
I died to a Terran bar code playing mech style on the ladder. After the game I tried to have a friendly chat with them to ask them how to deal with it. They gave me a few tips about what to spot and what could work. Next game I ran into them again. I applied some of what they told me. It works and I now know what to do 🥳. Some evening like today, the #Starcraft2 ladder experience is pretty great too 😁
I had a very weird opponent today on the ladder. 300APM so basically 3x my APM. Loses their first Probe scout to one of my own Probe despite that. Trades 2 Adepts for 1 of mine in the middle of the map. Gets their Oracle seen, denied without any kill and killed. Does not scout my Chargelots all-in and loses his army of Stalkers and Immortals on my ramp. Dies to follow up. Rages and calls it luck. Idk man ¯_(ツ)_/¯ #Starcraft2
I have seen a weird influx of people trying to go Nexus first on the ladder under the influence of some Youtubers I suspect. They should know that it is supposed to be a joke build order. It does not really work if their opponent scouts them, plays normally and does not have a huge MMR gap with them 😅. It’s really jarring to me to just see it and kill them with a straight up 4-Gates. #Starcraft2
