Second Boeing whistleblower dies as questions grow over 737 Max

Ok, it was a bacterial infection, but there appears to be a pattern emerging. Next thing, the Federal Aviation authorities declare Boeing ticket-y-boo and their QA/QC proceses fine, robust and functional. What's more the abandonment of engineering for financial manipulation a fine and outstanding US achievement.

“I got to the airport, checked again that it wasn’t the Max. I went through security, got coffee. I walked onto the plane – I thought, it’s kinda new...then I sat down and on the emergency card [in the seat pocket] it said it was a Max.”
He got up and walked off.

“My gauges just kind of went blank on me,” said the pilot of a #boeing 787 Dreamliner that plummeted downward for terrifying moments.

According to passenger Jokat, the pilot said that he "lost control of the plane” until the gauges came back and the plane “reengaged back to its normal flight pattern.” Approx 50 passengers were injured. Much more to learn, but what is going on with your planes @Boeing ??

NEW: “62-year-old Boeing #whistleblower John Barnett found dead in his truck after he didn't show up for a legal interview linked to a case against Boeing.

Barnett worked for #boeing for 32 years and retired in 2017. After retiring, Barnett spoke out about how Boeing was cutting corners on their airplanes.

Just days before his death, Barnett gave evidence in a lawsuit against Boeing. Barnett accused Boeing of "deliberately fitting sub-standard parts" on their aircraft. 1/4

shows up to give legal interviews and then gets shot in the parking lot.”— Collin Rugg

Video 👇: Barnett says that jobs weren’t being completed, inspections were skipped, esp with the 737, 787 programs where quality is viewed as “nonvalue overhead. Those 2 programs have removed quality from the process.”

Twenty-eight minutes after the last recorded transmission from the co-pilot, the captain woke up and became aware that the aircraft was not on the correct flight path. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2024/03/10/asia-pacific/pilots-fall-asleep-cockpit/

Kudos to the JAL flight attendants who safely evacuated nearly 400 passengers and crew in 90 seconds from a burning jet.

A Japanese culture of civic-mindedness certainly may have helped, but it’s also a reminder that safety is Job One for flight crews everywhere.
