I'll have to go back to #AuntCassCafe sometime late at night when there aren't any people waiting so I can take a picture of the full "chalkboard" that has the delivery locations and orders, but I couldn't resist at least taking a picture of the kitty. #SanFranSokyo#SanFranSokyoSquare#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6
Finally had a chance to take a picture of some of the family photos on the wall at #AuntCassCafe . We don't know anything about Hiro's and Tadashi's parents, except that they were killed, and that's why the boys live with Cass. Loved seeing these pictures. #SanFranSokyo#SanFranSokyoSquare#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6
I finally decided to try the mis-named gyoza sausage bun from #PortOfSanFranSokyoCerveceria . It's a steamed bun with ground pork, ginger, mushrooms and leeks, with a chili-soy dipping sauce. The filling had nice flavor, and the sauce was wonderful. No wonder you can just buy the sauce to put on anything you want. #SanFranSokyoSquare#SanFranSokyo#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6 /1
The bun was pretty good, but it was a little bit soggy, likely because the item is kept in the warmer bag and then kept in a warming drawer, given the circumstances of being in a fast service theme park environment and wanting to keep the bun warm. In a restaurant, they'd just be able to replenish the supply freshly without the bag or drawer. #PortOfSanFranSokyoCerveceria#SanFranSokyoSquare#SanFranSokyo#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6 /3
My only issue is calling it a gyoza of any form. A gyoza does not involve a bun of any sort, but rather, a flour wrapper. It seems like they decided to go with the dish, but the bun doesn't really go with the Japan-influences of the land, so decided to call it a gyoza to fit in with the theming, even though it's not close to being a gyoza. 🤷
Lunch on New Year's Day was at #AuntCassCafe , and I tried the chilled shrimp soba noodle salad, which I really enjoyed. The noodles (which are hard to see here because they're underneath everything else) had a nice texture and were really tasty with the sesame ginger dressing which is included on the salad. #SanFranSokyoSquare#SanFranSokyo#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6 1/2
Because there weren't a lot of people in #SanFranSokyoSquare that late last night, I got a chance to look at the postings on the community message boards. So much fun stuff to read, which would normally be difficult to do without hovering over people enjoying their food at the tables in front of the signs.
For the record, #CocinaCucamongaMexicanGrill does not serve octopus tacos, but I think they absolutely should. Make sure it's grilled properly, though. Mushy tako is not good. #TakoTuesday
Dinner was very late last night, after watching the first World of Color: Season of Light, and I was happy to discover that #AuntCassCafe was open until 11pm. We both ordered the curry beef in a bread bowl. There were a couple things I was interested in, but it was a bit cold out, so a bowl of hot food sounded great.
but I feel like I never came across any beef, so that was weird and a little disappointing.
The little scoop of rice on top was nice - even though it's in a bread bowl, you need some rice to go with the curry. The ginger was interesting (and I love ginger) but it's not something I would have chosen to add. #AuntCassCafe#SanFranSokyoSquare#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6 2/3
We sat at a table in the little breezeway between the bread factory and Ghirardelli's, so we were protected from the wind. It's really the first time I've spent any significant time in #SanFranSokyoSquare because I've had other things to do, and it's always been so crowded in that area. It was so nice, having our food from #AuntCassCafe and enjoying the ambient music and pretty views. Will need to do this again. #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6 3/3
