I created some new photo art this morning. 2 new pieces; 1 b/w piece here.
They're visual contrasts between devastating logging #clearcuts & world famous #OldGrowth tree, Big Lonely Doug. These creations are sparked by my lifelong love of ancient #forests & the need to keep protecting them, against government lies & #ecocide industry greed.
What can we do with some #VancouverIsland pest species? We can learn how to cook & eat them, instead of just killing & wasting actual real #WildFoods & helping with #InvasiveSpecies at the same time.
Don't be super grossed out about learning to cook & eat some invasive insects. Especially if you already eat several wild foods, eat your homegrown foods & eat meat or buy everything from stores.
Every single one of those foods has insects on or in them - in some form & invisible to our eyes.(1)
@msbellows@TheGreatLlama@chris On our island, it's not homeowners who have made broom spread like wildfire - it's #BCgovernment who keeps letting #clearcuts happen. Broom proliferates in poor soil & full clear-cuts. It's biggest reason we have mass broom infestations all over #VancouverIsland & gulf islands & beyond.
We are talking hectares(by govt & industry) compared to half acres(by homeowners).
I'm fine with fining landowners - if BC Government is also held to full accountability too.
