32 years ago today #OTD , on the second day of the #1991#Soviet#GKChP coup, after a day spent in fear (for crushing the very gentle first results of democratisation), witnessing the #tanks of the Tamanskaya or Kantemirovskaya divisions rolling into #Moscow from the south-west direction, i felt for the first time this day that the #coup leaders just might not get away with it... And as for us, those thousands out on the streets of #Moscow following the #Soviet#GKChP coup 32 years ago #OTD , we gathered at #Lubyanka square at night, in front of the #KGB hq and took down the statue of ChK founder known as Iron #Felix ( #Dzherzhinsky ) - there are serious attempts in #Putin 's #Russia to reinstate it back there (cont.)
