You may disagree fervently with Pres. Biden's Israel policies, and that's fine. But if you come into my feed calling him "Genocide Joe" or any variation on that theme, you're blocked.

I've already had to block a few accounts for this.

Pres. Biden is not "for genocide." I will not argue with you on this topic, nor do I discuss the Israel/Hamas war here.

But I will not tolerate accusations of "genocide" by Pres. Biden. He's not "pro genocide."

If that's a prob, it's on you.

@GottaLaff

I think #filtering them could deny them the satisfaction of distracting you. More experienced #Mastodon users might could help. I don’t use #filters because I enjoy trolling them back. #Filter

ReversalHatchery, to technology in Here's what's happening to ad blockers in Google Chrome

I did say the element zapper was missing.

I didn’t mention the zapper. Though I agree that is a great tool, along with the picker which is then probably also gone.

uBO Lite is using the same default filterlists as uBO

Uses the same defaults, which are only updated after a new release gets through google’s addon review process, in an environment where often quick changes are needed for the addon to work effectively. Its much easier to get thorugh a firewall that is only updated once every few or even more days, than one that automatically obtains the updates every half a day.

What about the lists that are not enabled by default, and custom lists added by the user? As I understand, they are not a thing anymore.

Did I understand it right that that according to this and this FAQ entry, neither of the lists have site specific rules, as it is not possible to have them anymore?

I've switched from Chrome to Firefox about a decade ago. It's just as fast and intuitive, and container tabs are a game changer. It always catches me off guard when I see its market share is so low.

@Gargron The Chrome team has resumed the transition to Manifest v3 and explicitly decided NOT to support the the blocking version of webRequest anymore 🚫 (https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/chromium-extensions/c/X-aHqPOKcQU).

So from mid 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣, extensions in need to be based on and will be limited 📉 in what they can do (the powerful content blocker Origin can't be fully ported: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBOL-home/wiki/Frequently-asked-questions-(FAQ)#filtering-capabilities-which-cant-be-ported-to-mv3).

retains webRequest blocking in MV3 👍 (https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2022/10/31/begin-your-mv3-migration-by-implementing-new-features-today/).

I’m drowning in posts and I follow less than 200 people. We really need client side … any client making strides on that?

Finally got around to statuses on https://schizo.social and I already prefer it to the way that I've seen any other client do it:

Firstly I hide the details entirely unless you want to see them. blurs the words which I might do too.

Then I not only display which was triggered, but which words were matched.

Finally, I let the user rehide after showing in case they took a peek and then realized it was something NSFW.

Folks, I'm posting more topical stuff here as I move away from Musk's Folly, and while I am taking care to hashtag US-related political stuff, not every topical issue is fundamentally about US politics, and I have to trust my own judgment on what is and isn't.

If you find any posts about topical issues irritating or annoying (especially from a US-centric point of view), it's okay to unfollow now. I want your Mastodon experience to be a congenial one for you. If that's without me, okay!

@scalzi Good idea, but also are not just for content and moderation, they facilitate search. It is helpful to think of hashtags as indexes. Indexing your posts by using them makes posts more discoverable to other users and for you too. Liberal use of hashtags will greatly improve your engagement here.
