In 1995, the state said it would build a new walkway across the Charles along the #MBTA's North Station drawbridge to connect the new North Bank and Nashua Street Parks – and provide a direct walking route between Cambridge and North Station.
Nearly 30 years later, the T is planning to replace the bridge – but without any bike and pedestrian paths:
Work just sent around an update on parking rates, apologizing for the cost going up, and -- MAN are we subsidizing car travel! My #MBTA rail pass is more expensive than on-site parking several blocks from Harvard Square.
The Federal Transit Administration (#FTA) just announced a $68 million grant to help the #MBTA upgrade 14 Green Line streetcar stops and make them ADA-accessible:
Really disappointed that the #MBTA's path forward for making commuter rail stations accessible is "let's figure out how to build as little as possible to avoid triggering FTA requirements for full level boarding" and not "let's get our construction costs under control so that we're not spending $50 million to install two elevators and a ramp."
#BostonMusic & Free - #Malden's #Porchfest starts at noon Saturday, til 7pm, still on despite the rain as of Saturday @10am, but check the wobsite. No Guster, though.
massachusetts-official on Tumblr made me aware of a Tom Lehrer song I'd never heard before, so here he is singing The Subway Song, a minute and a half of pure delight if you've ever taken the #MBTA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goJ0QIaXZ-w
