I love watching, making photos and cheering people on while racing. I don’t really know what is going on with my body/nervous system that has gotten worse in the past few years but I couldn’t fathom doing this anymore. In 2012, I did the Mt St Louis Tough Mudder, 17 kms, 9 times bottom to top of that fucking mountain with all the obstacles and I was probably 315 lbs. Bodies are amazing and frustrating #ottawa#ottwalk#ottawaraceweekend
So the NCC doesn’t seem to have posted on their website that the bike weekend closures are NOT running this weekend, so FYI for those of you who do not follow them on Twitter or instagram 🙃 Met some folks at the park who were riding on the parkway after 8 AM with kids who had to get the fuck off quickly when people ended up driving behind them #ottawa#ottwalk#ottbike
Had a good 40 min walk to wrap up the afternoon. Feels rather summer-like, and trees all have a green tinge as the buds start opening.
A rainy weekend in store apparently, so unsure where we'll get walk opportunities over the next couple of days. A drizzley walk wouldn't be too bad if necessary.
The #NCC is still the NCC. Putting mulch down for tulip festival because it’s pretty but leaving the muddy and flooded path as is. The ruts the covered with mulch are only there because so many pickup trucks drive through the park. Stay dry #ottwalk and #ottbike#ottawa
Reminder: #ottbike#ottwalk#Ottawa a bit under the radar, but perhaps a nice thing to spend an afternoon on. Just learned about it last weekend from World of Maps owners.
Walked our legs off the last few days, and today is the first walk on home turf this week. Temperature is very summer like.
My #walking rule of thumb is to never go for a walk at 15C or above wearing jeans rather than shorts. Invariably I am skeptical it could be that warm yet, and worry my pale Nordic skin will blind motorists on these first warm days. Invariably I violate the rule and regret it, getting too warm. Live and learn.
On my way to work a pickup truck driver was pulling in to park but really fast and aggressively so I was worried it would hit me and when I jumped out of the way in fear the driver laughed hysterically.
Nice pre-supper walk. Warmer than I thought it would be, but windy too. A bit of a different route today, planning for the wind at our backs on the return leg.
It’s a beautiful day here in #Ottawa and I had lovely peaceful morning wanders along the beautiful Rideau River nature trail enjoying the sounds of the birds and the pretty pink sunrise.
The next Ottawa Urbanist Walk is on March 17 meeting at Remic Rapids to explore the Kichi Zībī Mīkan.
This month’s walk is a collaboration with @ParkwaysPeople which is hosting an online discussion on the Kichi Zībī Mīkan on March 18. Come join the walk or talk or both!
Also Ottawa folks if you have ideas of walks you’d like to see this spring and summer please let me know or if you’d like to share your neighborhood/community/group with folks also let me know!
A nice midday walk, just over 5km, and grey skies which is much more comfy than sun, I find.
These spring-like days are great for #walking. Dressed a tad too warm though, so the last km was a bit hot. Need to bring a knapsack along to shed layers next time. About 4°C just then.
It’s a beautiful sunny morning here in #Ottawa and Ocean and I enjoyed a peaceful early morning walk and the beautiful sunrise and clouds. The perfect way to start the day.
