So Ukraine, a country under siege, manages to evacuate it's own nationals and 51 others from Sudan. The British, not so much. Tory incompetence, again.
Can you recommend accounts by activists and journalists on the ground in #Sudan? Preferably posting in English, but I am also happy with machine-translated Arabic.
@rainerzufall_le I've been looking since this weekend and basically no not on Mastodon. Follow the #Sudan hashtag. There are a few people following the topic but not a ton...
Look at @warmapper and @Norobiik for examples (the latter has a megathread.) @aljazeera has a bot here and @TheConversationAfrica also talks about Sudan but isn't meant to be directly up to date.
10 days into the conflict between Sudan's national military and paramilitary forces, the factions have agreed to a 72 hour ceasefire which appears to be holding, unlike previous attempts at a ceasefire. Ceasefire was mediated over by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Foreign states want to use this to ramp up the evacuation of their nationals.
Will this lead to concrete talks between the warring factions?
Don't know exactly what to say, but hoping for awareness of the plight of the Sudanese people during this war. There is not much being said on Mastodon. #sudancrisis #sudan
The leaders of #Sudan’s army, Gen #Burhan, and of the paramilitary RSF, Gen Dagallo AKA #Hemedti - whose forces have been fighting recklessly in residential areas without caring about harming civilians - really need to listen to this boy. #SudanConflict -
