Hm... according to the 'smart meter', my electric has been costing a fair bit less this week than past weeks... despite using around the same amount of electric... I hope that's accurate and things are getting a bit more affordable...

Crap. I had to go to Twitter or X or whatever it's called this week, to grab a game rom someone had made and I was exposed to right-wing morons praising Jim Davidson of all people, the unfunny twat having been on creepy hack Dan Wootton's show and complaining about 'cancel culture' and talking shit about LGBTQ+ people (whom right-wing dickheads accuse of being 'pedos trying to mutilate our kids')

Jim Davidson. Who is friends with convicted child molester Gary Glitter and wants him 'uncancelled'

Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch Vs PS5 almost reminds me of 8 vs 16 bit versions of games. Not quite the same obviously but the difference in quality of the entire game (graphics, performance, loading etc) is so large that the Switch version should be sold much cheaper (as 8 bit ports were compared to 16 bit versions) because £59.99 for Switch (on Nintendo store) and £64.99 (PS5 store). There's no way the Switch version is only £5 worse. :P

I'd like Suella Braverman to experience homelessness. And I don't mean that lil experiment done on TV some years ago where some rich person sleeps rough for a week knowing full well they're going back to their mansion when their 'ordeal' is over. I want her to lose everything she owns and sleep on the streets not knowing if or when she'll get a roof over her head or her next meal or anything.

I've done it. I was homeless 23 years ago. Fortunately things did get better

Not even the biggest fan of the first Legend of Zelda (I enjoyed the second one more. :O ) but finding this rom hack of it called 'The Legend of Super Mario - Save Mushroom Kingdom' with it's SMB3 stylings really enjoyable. :P

Hm. Tried to create a monster for this fantasy setting but somehow even though it's 'nude' it still looks too sci-fi and alien. Will try again.

I've been trying to understand 8-bit games that have swords as the main attack and the trajectory, if any, of the sword and it's collision box. Many just have the sword simply appear in front of the character quickly and just use a hitbox there. Not a lot of them seem to have the sword fully swing and a hitbox travel with it (and alter shape and size of that hitbox for the sword's changing angle).

Just something I found curious cos I'm a dork.

"Laurence Fox has lost a High Court libel case with two people he called paedophiles on social media.

The actor-turned-politician was sued by former Stonewall trustee Simon Blake and drag artist Crystal.

In an exchange on X about a decision by Sainsbury's to mark Black History Month, Mr Fox referred to the two as "paedophiles".

High Court judge Mrs Justice Collins Rice said Mr Fox's labelling was "harmful, defamatory and baseless"."

Good. Laurence Fox is a gobshite.

It's kinda funny that the title screen of RoboCop 3 on the NES gives the child a gun when the film was incredibly kid-friendly compared to the first two. :P

Bit of latest Digital Foundry video where the main guy Rich explains why they see no reason to leave 'Twitter' and use Mastodon/Threads/whatever and the other guys nod in approval.

Then in the very next topic they talk about, they mention how people who use the term 'PC Master Race' should look up why calling yourself the 'Master Race' of anything is pretty bad.

But they're still happy to use 'Twitter' where anti-semitism has been on the increase even by Musk himself...

Bit weird..

Ok, learning to use this NESmaker. One question. Why the frick does it want all the graphics in BMP format like it's the late 90s or some stuff when it's a recent program?

Collection of Doctor Who pixels I did from around 2010 to 2014. Mostly during Eleventh Doctor era as evident by multiple 11th Doc sprites. The colours were restricted to that of one of the many 'NES palettes' for practice in colour usage.

If you recognise them all then you're kinda cool. :)

There were also many unfinished ones not here such as River, Brig, Angels, Ace etc.

Seen folk recreate these with perler beads, cross stitch, in minecraft etc. Which is nice. :)

Amused myself with this response to one of these whiners that complain about PlayStation games getting ported to PC (several years after they've been played, completed and put aside by PS gamers)

Every PlayStation game ends up on PC at some point due to emulation anyways. I don't see why these dickheads complain so much about PC gamers getting to experience our old games when we're playing the sequels. :P

Love that the classic black suit skin includes an alternate style that mimics the blue/red shading that Venom had in the 90s Spider-Man cartoon.

It's weird when Christians like Jim Olsen say "spare the rod, spoil the child when trying to justify corporal punishment of children and claim it's from the Bible.

The actual phrase from the King James Bible, Proverbs, 13:24 it actually states: “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.”

The rod isn't for beating though. It's for guidance. Like that of a Shepherd. He guides the sheep with the rod. He doesn't hit them with with it.

"A former Metropolitan Police officer has received a minimum jail sentence of more than 13 years after being convicted of 10 counts of rape, including three of raping a child under the age of 13."

Another rapist / child abuser we had in our police force.

"We understand the concerns around Mitchell being cleared to join the Met after an initial report of rape was made in 2017"

So he was a rapist then became a cop then raped some more...

fuck's sake

Ok so for ages I thought my PC just wouldn't boot into it's BIOS. That somehow I'd broken something.

Turns out it was booting just fine... but displaying it to the TV (which wasn't even switched on) which is connected to my PC via HDMI. Which apparently has greater 'boot priority' over either monitor which are connected via DisplayPort.

And from googling, there doesn't seem to be anyway to change this behaviour other than "unplug the TV from the PC" which is a bit annoying.

Just in case folk need reminding of Eric Clapton's hugely racist rant in 1976 which he later on drink and drugs. An excuse he also used in 1999 when admitting he raped his then wife Pattie Boyd numerous times in the 70s too.

I censored the slurs but you can probably guess what they are.

"The Conservative Party has said it would bring back mandatory national service if it wins the general election.

It said 18-year-olds would have a choice of either joining the military full-time, or volunteering one weekend every month carrying out a community service.

The cost is expected to be around £2.5bn per year."

The Tories really haven't got a clue. Last year homelessness among armed forces veterans in England rose by 14%. How about you get them housed first?
