I travel a great deal, but mainly commute to work on the 05.17 from Bremen each week day.

I read heavy books, collect old photographs, and write long letters. My working clothes are kilts, but I do own one pair of jeans.

This is a small, occasional record of those travels by train and bus, of books read and letters written, and sometimes the events in between. Posts are automatically deleted after three months.

Don't expect any deep philosophical content here!

Something that the WM vote against the SNP amendment on the Israel / Gaza crisis has shown me: where the Tories are already doing their best to destroy lives - and by that I mean of their own country people and those in most need - given an election where Labour wins, they will follow exactly the same policy.

The Red of Labour is merely a different shade of the Blue of Conservatives.

So glad to hear that details of all the trains which will be running tomorrow are in every single app for all to see and make plans. At least, according to DB.

Checking Fahrplanner I note that not a single planned departure on my normal commute has been cancelled. That means the 5% are all centered around my needs.

Honestly, I really trust these people.

Following the recipe is such a pain, but needs to be done the first time so that you can see what is wrong and correct it.

Tortellini Ricotta and Spinach au gratin with cauliflower, peas and carrots in a Gorgonzola sauce.

The recipe requires too much fluid, making the whole not quite as solid, for the sauce, as it should be. Next time I will know better, and adapt.

Breakfast. Why make things easy?

Ordered a small cooked breakfast after the person serving discovered breakfast is on offer. Then scrambled egg "solo" - we don't do that; it's on the menu; I'll do a double portion of eggs, you want a bread roll?

I do indeed, it's part of the meal, with two slices of Mozerilla - we don't do that; it's on the menu; I have Camembert; that'll do fine.

What size coffee? Medium, it's on the menu.

Wait & see how they try to calculate costs when I'm finished.

Breakfast ordered. I'm disinclined to go for the cheese Omelette, just glancing at the menu photo is off-putting, so it's croissants with jam and a milky coffee.

This could be a mere human error, but I suspect more as I've seen it too often.

The German supermarket chain promotes their continual offers of regional goods, especially fruit and vegetables. Small signs tell customers that certain items are from the local area, and people seem to trust them.

An occasional check, though, and it is clear this is not the case. These potatoes are from which, no matter how you fold the globe, is not regional to . A second container had potatoes from Israel, also not local by any stretch of the imagination.

In fact, none of the items marked as Regional goods on offer in Rewe Bremen yesterday were regional at all.

Time, perhaps, to give someone a geography lesson, or ask whether this is being done on purpose.

I was slightly surprised to hear Theresa May (one of several former failed Prime Ministers south of the border) has decided to step down at the next election.

Aside from the fact she cannot possibly go any further down than she already is, thanks to her political insignificance now, I thought she had already slunk off.

The fun is neverending. Now I hear there is a planned strike by the GDL, Thursday to Friday, when I need to be in Hildesheim.

Looks like I get to try out Flixbus for the first time, as far as Hannover, and then wait for my driver for the final leg of my journey.

Such things are sent to try, and to inspire us.
