I travel a great deal, but mainly commute to work on the 05.17 from Bremen each week day.

I read heavy books, collect old photographs, and write long letters. My working clothes are kilts, but I do own one pair of jeans.

This is a small, occasional record of those travels by train and bus, of books read and letters written, and sometimes the events in between. Posts are automatically deleted after three months.

Don't expect any deep philosophical content here!

This could be a mere human error, but I suspect more as I've seen it too often.

The German supermarket chain promotes their continual offers of regional goods, especially fruit and vegetables. Small signs tell customers that certain items are from the local area, and people seem to trust them.

An occasional check, though, and it is clear this is not the case. These potatoes are from which, no matter how you fold the globe, is not regional to . A second container had potatoes from Israel, also not local by any stretch of the imagination.

In fact, none of the items marked as Regional goods on offer in Rewe Bremen yesterday were regional at all.

Time, perhaps, to give someone a geography lesson, or ask whether this is being done on purpose.

Good news from the German antifa and related organizations scene: copyright protection.

A small group based in Germany has begun buying the Trade Mark rights to certain words and phrases - mainly abbreviations of words associated with extreme right wing groups and movements often aligned with the ideals of the original Nazis - so have them removed from the marketplace.

Companies producing these slogans will now be forced to remove them from their catalogs, from the stores and from sale, or face legal fines.

This morning, on the German news service, there was a report that April was the hottest month since records began, and that temperatures have risen by over 1.5°C since pre-industrial times.

Then we went over to the announcer of the next piece of music, who greeted us with a "and it's another wonderful day out there".

There's the problem, right there.

Looking back at the actions of the MSN in the USA as the Vietnam war was dragging on bitterly - to inevitable failure - and the playing up of good stories, the positive and not the reality of the war, I see many similarities in the handling of Trump and his consorts by the press today.

An abject failure to report the truth in an unbiased and honest manner to those who need to know.

A pandering to bias, to misinformation, to abuse.

When all is said and done, the MSN will claim they did their best, and sweep the whole matter under a carpet for fifty years. But the damage, today, is being done, and cannot be undone.

Journalists are complicit.

A good delivery day today, if somewhat spread out. A set of bathroom scales, something I haven't used since I was a twenty-something and, having quickly used this evening, will probably never use again.

Two new LPs for the collection: "Tales of Topographic Oceans" by Yes - described on the cover as the changing force in progressive rock, whereas I seem to recall diehard Yes fans hated this record - and "Bursting at the Seams" from Strawbs. Anyone remember Strawbs?

Cooking done for this afternoon's main meal. I've never even tried to even imagine a vegetarian cottage pie, but it seems, on first tasting, to work reasonably well.

After an excellent sold-out theatre performance in Bremerhaven-Lehe last night, I was back home at 02.00 this morning and, as my body clock has total control of my waking life, awake, if not up, at 05.00. A theoretical lie-in of an hour.

Sunday is laundry, paperwork, relaxation, all of which are now well and truly underway.

Not my court case, but: the defendant claimed they had dropped something in the well of their car, leaned over to pick it up and, in doing so, their arm pushed the button which changes the speedometer from kilometers to miles. That's why they were driving so fast.

The car is an American version Mercedes S Class. The defendant is a lawyer.

Trying to decide which book to read next: English or German, Fact or Fiction? My selection of fictional works is rather limited, and the last two or three titles I read were in German, so we'll go with "The Book at War: Libraries and Readers in an Age of Conflict" by Andrew Pettegree.
