@glynmoody interesting article, however perhaps do both under an #IntegratedLandUsePolicy? #Timber from homegrown #CommercialForests is essential to mitigating #ClimateBreakdown through replacing more #Carbon intensive #BuildingMaterials & import substitution. Our forest cover is woeful compared with European average. Why not properly regulate our investment in forests, improve the silviculture & hence biodiversity. Oh, & '#NativeForest is commercial too, given #CarbonCredits

    @peterdutoit the answer is independence for Scotland. Energy policy is foist upon us by Westminster. Scotland doesn't vote Tory or Red Tory and is more aligned with a leaning

    I get that 'vote SNP - it's less bad than the alternative' is a difficult sell sometimes, but / is the best route to , SNP fragments to it's constituent parts and we all get to vote for whom we want.... And be part of a proper grown up, democratic, left leaning, Nordic, European country.

    So I hear tell of a 200ha Felling Permission application with Scottish Forestry. It is likely to be approved. Apparently the plan is to revert to 'natural forest'. I hae ma doots aboot the quality of this forest. But what really concerns me is the unconditional removal of 200ha productive forest with NO replacement, & the state funded carbon offsetting scam that follows. Taxpayers are funding removal of real to allow continued & unearned profit
