@virtualbri @joesteel I really like @scalzi Old Man’s War. I’ve been meaning to pick up the rest of the series.

@skyfaller - just logged in to Jawns.club on the web and noticed some follow requests that required approval.

My privacy settings are “Automatically accept new followers"

    Is that an admin policy?

    JoeCotellese,

@skyfaller Makes sense and I think that is where at least some of the requests were coming from.

Sonoff ZBDongle-E is quite capable Zigbee stick.

It has been working great as a router for few weeks, so I've decided to set it up as a coordinator, and migrate the whole network to it.

It seems to work reliably as a coordinator so far. Using it with Zigbee2MQTT in Home Assistant.

    I wrote a mini review for it - https://kravemir.org/product-reviews/sonoff-zbdongle-e.

    JoeCotellese,

@kravemir @homeassistant @homeassistant @zigbee2mqtt thanks for the write up. Is this replacing an existing Zigbee stick and is it a required upgrade?

After years of frustration trying to bring our bikes on trains, we finally splurged on some folding bicycles. We have joined the cult of Brompton, AMA.

Maggie went for an acoustic bike, while I chose an electric model.

    JoeCotellese,

@skyfaller I'm really interested in some first hand accounts of people solving the last mile problem with e-bikes.

I live in a very walkable town and about 1yr ago when one of our cars finally kicked it my wife and I decided to see how long we could go w/ only 1 car.

Now, I'm considering at least one e-bike for doing light grocery shopping or errands around town.

    JoeCotellese,

@skyfaller Wow, entire house? I don't remember seeing it but may have just missed your posts.

I want to make a one time backup of my Photos from Mac → Unraid before I try switching from Lightroom → Darktable.

Rclone comes in handy again this is one of my favorite command-line tools. I don't need it often but it's so useful when I do.

At ENSONIQ, I was a QA tester and spent many hrs playing games. Our soundcard emulated a SoundBlaster - the de-facto audio card of the day.

About a week after dropped Gateway 2k our largest customer reported problems with Doom.

They said fix it or they were dropping us.

The rest of the year was a blur to get things working.

    Eventually we did.

In an amazing bit of irony, the SoundBlaster company eventually acquired us because we had better compatibility.

Worked on rendering walls and clipping. The red wall block has a weird height in its binary metadata and I don't know why. Something must be mangling it but I can't find where. Grump.

The irony of the whole "green bubble" thing is that Apple forces YOUR messages to be worse (low contrast, featureless, sent in unencrypted plain text, using technology from 1984, low-resolution photos, undecipherable compressed 100px-tall pillar-boxed videos) when you DARE message someone who doesn't drink the same Apple-flavored kool-aid they so helfpully sold you.

It has nothing to do with the recipient's actual device, capabilities, price, etc. Apple has made YOUR messages worse. On purpose.

    JoeCotellese,

@cassidy came here to say this too. I've tried moving family to Telegram or Signals in the past. It's too hard to get people off of the defaults.
