The distribution “managed by a single person” depends on hundreds of people working on different sofware to keep up. It’s not “one person doing better than the thousands of Microsoft employees combined” implication they are pushing
Windows 11 beat the linux distros by up to 20% in 1% lows which are argued as much more important by most tech reviewers. It wasn’t consistant at all which means that there was a giant margin of error.
I love linux and linux gaming has gotten radically better, but I am tired of tech “journalism” literally just cherrypicking, misleading, clickbait trash.
China is literally a authoritarian state capitalist now lol. They are pretty much fascist. They fit nearly every definition of fascism.
Dictatorship
Militaristic
Expansionism
Ethnic cleansling (genocide) coming from a belief of a perceived intrinsic good of a nation/race (Tibetan people, Sichuan, Uyghurs)
capitalist “free market” economy until the company hits a certain size/influence and direction can be influenced by dictator’s party
Very little regulation, also very little IP regulation which lowers the barrier to entry of an industry
They are communist only by name just like Stalin’s regime was. Hell, the Nazi’s called themselves the socialist party lol. Communists should be looking at them as what NOT to do because they “devolved” into capitalism. It is hard or impossible for the upper class to resist the infinite looking growth and the personal riches that capitalism provides while maintaining authoritarianism.
Laos is slowly going the same way. Vietnam is similar if I remember right.
Communism only seems to have stayed communism in Cuba, but it seems to be working well for them as far as education, healthcare, and CoL. Just like most systems there was a very violent and bloody road to get there.
People are always greedy and always want more. Communism doesn’t allow them to have more and more and so it usually falls apart. Probably will only ever work in tiny communities or “tribes.”
That is a great concept, mostly if the user is also notified that something is degraded so they can use it, but repair it when they have the opportunity.
This does not apply to this flashlight. Working on multiple battery types is not graceful degredation as batteries do not degrade into less batteries and a AA does not degrade into a AAA. Cell packs can become slightly unbalanced or by user error you can put 2 dead batteries with 2 good batteries, but then they will discharge into each other anyway and really cut the lifespan.
Pretty cool feature and handy if you run out of batteries during an emergency, but I don’t think it fits the definition lol
Even musk paying 30% in taxes is such a misnomer too. He accrued like 80 billion in assets during that time and just borrows money tax-free based off that imaginary asset valuation and can essentially have unlimited tax-free money as his assets appreciate…
PowerUPP: GUI functional AMD GPU configurator for all voltage configuration, frequency tuning, SoC and memory frequency and voltage tuning
CoreCtrl: GUI usually-functional AMD GPU configurator. Fan curves, over and under clocking, power profiles, frequency and voltage tuning
You have to enable ‘amd.ppfeaturemask=0xffffffff’ in your boot options, but that is clearly stated in the user guide.
For sound, PAVUcontrol or the KDE volume setting GUI have been able to fix 80%-90% of my audio issues. I haven’t used a command line for audio in a long time.
I agree that GUIs make it easier for mass-adoption but things not working out of the box and having to search for solution is just as much of a Windows problem as Linux. If someone has non-standard hardware, it is always a bigger problem to switch to another system. Windows still will randomly shut off my Yeti microphone input and switch to my monitor with no microphone as the system microphone on boot sometimes.
The difference is in windows for weird setups you have to run obscure possible virus runme.msi from 2015 where linux you have to put in an obscure command that you aren’t sure what it does from a forum post from 2015. The only one that has mostly nailed that down is OSX.
If you have (or will soon have) kernel 6.2 or higher, get an Intel Arc A380.

great h.264 & h.265 performance, VMAF scored above 3090 in most cases, especially at lower bitrates. Tests were done at release and drivers have only improved
To be fair, the UK is essentially aiming to be America 2.0
Many countries are trending more expensive (Belgium went up 30% house price in 4 years) but the UK is on another level of the wealthy literally owning all property and purposely leaving tens of thousands of houses empty just to spite the working class.
