It looks as though we got off lightly in #StormGerrit yesterday. In spite of hat gust to 89mph and the constant gusting in excess of 70mph, only the little greenhouse was destroyed. This has stood up to countless southerly and westerly gales, as it's located to get shelter from those, but all bets were off yesterday.

#Linux #ZFS laptop users do you have any recommended settings that you add into /etc/modprobe.d/zfs.conf ?
Things like zfs_arc_max, zfs_txg_timeout and so on ?
I'm running on a 1Tb nvme drive and have 16Gb ram currently but will get around to upgrading it to it's 40Gb max soon.
Any tips appreciated. 😉

I've sort of cobbled together how I'd install #VoidLinux using #ZFSBootMenu on my laptop. I've also included a separate swap partition just in case I did ever use suspend to disk.
Would someone care to cast their eyes over it before I push it to my blog. As an added bonus I'm going to tie myself up and get my better half to beat me around the head. Wait no! I meant to say I will wipe my laptop again and reinstall as per my installation document to make sure it works. 😂

Just in case anyone is interested or better still has some tips on my newly setup #VoidLinux #ZFSBootMenu laptop which is a #ThinkPad Gen 1 P14s AMD with 16Gb ram. But I'll be upgradeding shortly to the full 40Gb. Anyway here is the output of arc_summary and free -h . If I run btop it deducts the arc ram used so without that and running 17 tabs on #Qutebrowser and one foot terminal I'm using 2.62Gb but with free -h it shows as 6.5Gb which obvs is for zfs usage. #ZFS

Christmas morning walk. Herself being her usual pied piper as far as animals are concerned, and the sheep come running towards her when she stopped to snap them eating.
Also made a little detour to give "happy Christmas" to Cocoa and Milkshake, Davey the Crofter's calfies. Big mistake. They don't keep Christmas. "Baa", said Cocoa, confused by the sheep around about. "Humbert" said Milkshake, meaning I think she wanted to be called Humbert.

Well it's booted and I'm in as root for now. I see a few errors on screen there which I can hopefully resolve. Not sure about the "failed to lock /etc/exports.d/zfs.exports.lock: No such file or directory" ????
So all in all I take this as a win as I did expect it to boot first time. I have been documenting my steps though in case I need to redo this install.

If all goes well with my #VoidLinux #ZFSBootMenu install tomorrow I might be tempted to give #Zsh a try instead of my usual trusty #Bash ?
Anyone want to chime in with reasons for and against zsh ?
