Am I going mad ? I'm using the latest and for the life of me I cannot find how to hide the delete and filter buttons under the notification tab ??
Even their github shows a PR that was accepted for it yet I cannot find on the app.
Please help โค๏ธ

@nick Don't have anything like that. I'm wondering if clearing the app data would fix it ?

JustineSmithies,
@JustineSmithies@fosstodon.org avatar

@nick Well that made no difference.

Using Tusky 24.1

I think I need someone with better skills to explain something to me.

How can I tell if my laptop's built-in graphics card supports 4k@60Hz?

I'm going Laptopโ†’USB-C 3.2 cableโ†’Hubโ†’DisplayPortโ†’DP cableโ†’Monitor.

If I use a Windows machine, I get 2160p@60Hz - so I know the cables & hubs are fine.

Ubuntu / Pop only does 4k@30Hz.

My graphics are
Mesa Intelยฎ UHD Graphics (CML GT2) & my processor is i5-10210U.

What command-line incantation do I need to see my GPU's supported outputs?

JustineSmithies,
@JustineSmithies@fosstodon.org avatar

@Edent Good question as both xrandr for X and wlr-randr for Wayland only show monitors resolutions I think ? Maybe I'm wrong though and it could be the GPU's min and max resolutions ??

Will those voices in my head please give it a rest !
Tempting to try a install on an old laptop or pc now it's officially made it into the Linux 6.7 kernel. You know just for research purposes you understand. Like seeing how it compares to my daily drivers filesystem. ๐Ÿค”

One feature I've come to love in the foot terminal: press ctrl+shift+o to enter URL mode, where all currently visible URLs are tagged with a label using a letter key that will open the URL in Firefox.

@dwarmstrong Not just Firefox it'll open whatever you have set as the default browser.

Any ZFS connoisseurs here? What's the right way to enable & tune read-ahead / prefetch? Something like "blockdev --setra" on Linux. Doing some benchmarking and can't get it close to the traditional filesystems for sequential reads ...

JustineSmithies,
@JustineSmithies@fosstodon.org avatar

@tomasv Maybe not what you're looking for but it might help ?

Since going back to work on Wednesday myself and Julie decided to get our acts together and get back on plan with . I mean we have gone off the rails a little and I used to be a target member having reached and stayed St my previous target for at least a year. So we've been eating all the good stuff and I've not totally given up drinking as I've swapped red wine for Gin and slimline tonic. Fingers crossed I can do this again and not ruin it when I get stressed at work.

It is so easy. LOL. Before binary packages in and , it was common to do ./configure && make && make install. In fact, I have an old page with over 250+ comments about readers' struggles to install such packages because of dependencies. https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/install-tarballs/

JustineSmithies,
@JustineSmithies@fosstodon.org avatar

@nixCraft I still build and install some packages manually. Takes me back to building just about everything by hand.

Thought for a moment something had gone funny with my config but turns out it is a bug as reported here. Fingers crossed the fix get pushed shortly.

If you're a user then I'd really recommend that you go try a multi-purpose (password-)prompt tool for Wayland. Which also has a TUI fallback mode for when no wayland connection can be established, like when invoked while using a TTY. @lhp has done a fantastic job creating this really useful piece of software. With the latest update you can even set the transparency and the individual border colours for buttons and button text.

@JustineSmithies@fosstodon.org avatar

@lhp Does do transparency via background instead of 0xFFFFFF using 0xFFFFFF50 ???

JustineSmithies,
@JustineSmithies@fosstodon.org avatar

@lhp Cool thanks and something else that would be useful would be able to set the button text color independently of the main text. Please and thank you โค๏ธ

users ATM I'm using my own config which works with issues and I feel that one of the following projects might be better suited as they have lots of devs keeping everything working and up to date. So which would you consider best from this selection , or ??
