MxRemy,

I realllyyyy like Jerboa, but the only thing i have to compare it to is the web interface. I’ve never tried the other apps.

MxRemy,

I’ve never thought about it until just now, but… honestly I don’t really feel like I’ve had much support? Mostly just my boyfriend, who holds me when I’m sobbing from dysphoria. That’s like super important to me but it’s also all he can really do

MxRemy,

Seconding this rec, seems like a good fit

MxRemy, (edited )

Did you just call Pennsylvania the Midwest? Did I just this minute find out, right now, from you, dear internet stranger… that I’ve spent my entire life in the Midwest?? I’m sorry, I’m gonna need a minute… I’m gonna go get a hoagie

MxRemy,

I don’t think I’ve ever had a job with weekends off. Or even any other specific days consistently off from one week to the next, more generally. It does sound nice though, I think I’d like that.

MxRemy,

I’ve been at it for quite a while at this point, and done pretty much all of the things I’ll ever feasibly be able to afford. I’m not super happy about my progress, but it’s certainly better than… not having done all that. Strangers at my public service job don’t seem to clock me most of the time. Plenty of people don’t have access to even the basic stuff I’ve done, so I guess I can’t complain too much?

In some unattainable future I’d love to have FFS, trach shave, maybe another round of voice training, get my electrolysis done faster, etc.

MxRemy,

In the post-apocalypse book Seeds for the Swarm, there’s a group called the Wastrels who focus on “living with one’s trash”. Basically dedicating their lives to cleaning up the waste of the previous generations who caused the apocalypse, and not making any more. They either find ways to break it down or they reuse it.

I bring this up because each member finds a particular waste material that calls to them, and takes it as their name, i.e. Polypropylene. It was punk as hell.

MxRemy,

Yes please! I’m kind of a novice at coding and foolishly decided to try doing my own Rust + Activitypub project, so obviously I’m in wayyyy over my head. This would be really really helpful!

Luckily the Rust documentation is very good, but the Activitypub documentation is very bad, and the Activitypub-in-Rust documentation is nearly nonexistent. It must be in the Zeitgeist right now or something, I was literally just wishing that something like what you propose existed.

MxRemy,

We use a 3Doodler Pro+ at work, which I think might be the most expensive one out there? I’ve got to say, it really isn’t any easier to use than the cheapest alternatives on the market… There’s just a horrendous learning curve to these things in general, although if you think of it as any other art form then I guess it’s probably comparable.

On ours, I do really appreciate the wide heat range, the ability to access the dual gear extruder during operation, and the swappable nozzles. What I don’t appreciate is the ridiculous markup, the non-standard nozzle size, and them lying about only being able to use their special proprietary filament (it’s just normal 2.85mm).

@fediverse Is this a title ?

So... Theoretically this should be visible from Lemmy. Hi Lemmy users ! Greeting from Mastodon !
(Im never leaving the fediverse if this works)

MxRemy,

Greetings from Lemmy, Uhrbaan of Mastodon!

MxRemy,

I dunno how they pick stuff, but maybe you could get a song played on Radio Free Fedi? I discover new music that way all the time

MxRemy,

People on various Lemmy DIY communities helping me figure out how to do things.

MxRemy,

I’d say @Joph for regularly posting in the very small Haxe community. Thank you Joph!

MxRemy,

AHHHH YAYYYY!!! This subreddit had the best memes, I hope it takes off here!

Curious, how many users here actually use ActivityPub's capabilities to see other social media sites?

I’ve always wondered how many people actually decide to use something like mastodon to see Lemmy posts. I mean I know how inadequate it can be with a lack of a proper UI but I’m just wondering. Especially, with the infinite possibilities this can have.

MxRemy,

I haven’t done a lot with it myself yet, but I have noticed that a solid half of the people who interact with my Pixelfed posts are coming from Mastodon. Probably because the hashtags work across the two? I guess?

MxRemy,

Oh fun! I wasn’t here for the last one of these. My boyfriends and I all have pretty limited experience with programming, so we decided to learn together by making a game. We’re building it with Haxe, Flixel, Pixieditor, and LDtk. It’s slow going but fun. As for things to brag about, we just figured out how to get the LDtk map data mostly kinda sorta working in flixel? All the tutorials use Ogmo instead so it was a bit of a challenge 😅

Dual Chamber Transverse Ocarina (assets.pxlmo.com)

Sounds pretty good! It’s printed out of PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates). This is a food safe naturally occurring material synthesized by bacteria, and it is fully biodegradable in a reasonable time span, in any biome, with no microplastics. Design from SolidZone, material from Filaments.ca Regen collection. Once the world figures...

MxRemy,

Absolutely! It can be a teeny bit finicky compared ol’ reliable PLA, but I think it’s pretty worth it. The only real issue is that wide flat parts have a tendency to warp off the build plate? Here’s what I’ve figured out so far about making it adhere extra well:

  • Bed temp turned completely off!
  • Use a fresh layer of a really good 3d printing adhesive. (If your adhesive is heat activated, 35C should be enough to activate without messing with the PHA)
  • If you have an enclosure, open it up as much as possible. I noticed I have a lot more warping in my enclosed printer than my unenclosed one.
  • Between the handful of 100% pure PHA brands that I’m aware of existing, one says full fan as early as possible and another says no fan at all unless you’re doing lots of bridging/overhangs, so try out a few different fan settings.
  • Put a big giant brim on it. Maybe even try one made out of a different material than the object itself, if you’ve got dual extrusion.
  • The higher the infill percentage and the more solid bottom layers there are, the more it will warp. So avoid that where possible.
  • Most slicers probably already print the first layer at a chunkier line width than the nozzle size, but feel free to jack up the line width even more.
  • Set the first layer pattern to concentric or Hilbert curve, evens out the distribution of forces that cause warping.
  • Finally, if all else fails… Rotate the object until it’s sitting on a really impractical edge, then print it in sort of a “cradle” of support material. I use BVOH or PVA. Basically make as little of it touch the build plate as possible? I don’t like this option because it requires dual extrusion and is pretty wasteful.

There, that’s everything I know so far. This probably makes the warping sound a lot worse than it is. It’s really not super terrible. You probably won’t have to barely ever use any of these tips, and if you can get past the warping, every other aspect of printing with PHA works like a dream.

MxRemy,

I have migraines a lot like that too. My doctor won’t help with them so I’ve never tried prescription stuff for it, but otherwise, all the stuff people have suggested has helped me. I also have one other thing that sounds like totalll woo-woo “The Secret” style nonsense, but helps for some reason. I imagine my migraine as a jumble of tangled knots, and imagine very gently untangling them. It’s tricky because focusing too hard on it (or on anything really) just makes the migraine worse. I have to kind of do it in the lowest effort way possible. But when it works, it really really works! Almost immediately. My hypothesis is that what I’m actually doing is untensing a bunch of tense muscles in my face/neck/temples/etc that I don’t seem to have much conscious control over.

MxRemy,

In a similar vein, muffaletta as a bagel topping.

MxRemy,

I've seen some people try watching a show/movie/etc that has queer rep together with their parents, to see how they react? Like "oh hey, this show is getting really good reviews right now, want to watch it?" as if it's a total coincidence there's queer rep in it. But sometimes parents react completely differently when it's their own kid, in either direction, so it's maybe not that reliable.
