My youngest is wrapping up 7th grade this year & I gotta say the pandemic did a number on her cohort developmentally. It’s something the NYC school system is trying to memory hole & “get back to normal”, but these kids really need attention/resources badly.
I’m sure it’s true across the country, I just don’t see it in the news much other than the John Haidt bullshit about it being the smartphones fault or some shit…
Modern global capitalism needs to divorce humans from the very experience of their lives to work that the patterns people use to fill in those gaps to explain what's happening to them end up for the most part as hallucinations untethered to anything real.
