What if we had a . All instances fully and completely defederate from each other. Perfect isolation for perfect communities. Then, a month later, if someone feels they need to deal with other servers, they can reach out and start negotiating.

Edit: We could call it , or . Because it's a bit shorter, lol.

acousticmirror,
@acousticmirror@post.lurk.org avatar

@rozina Then that would be a "Computational Art and Culture Month" here on lurk. I think it's quite viable. Or maybe a day of the week. Say, , when lurkers post and discuss nothing but but the server's official topics. That would take some enforcement (no kittens, no memes, no jokes, no shitposting, no boosting unrelated stuff from other instances), but it's also viable. And we won't need to defederate from other servers (but would probably scare some people).

stunning friday fire music at the stone in , night 3 of zoh amba's residency, with patrick shiroshi (alto), wendy eisenberg (guitar), chris corsano (drums). starting at full shattering skronk & passing through ambient textures, high frequency sound fields, martian rain, even some semi ballady places. wondrous to hear eisenberg's extended percussive moves extend/frame/counter corsano's micro flurries then suddenly switch to zonked ethereal lines like a weirdo frisell.

@bourgwick Chris Corsano live is always great, no matter the context.

@inquiline "Italo Disco Antics Out of Context" sounds very appealing rn.

@inquiline Here's one. Not at all "Italo", but totally "disco": that time when Boney M (well, Frank Farian) got run over by Afrofuturism on the street. Timeless.

@inquiline And here's one of the (very, very) bizarre things that happened when hip hop hit the Old Continent.

A kind of "Low Power to the People" anthem:

@inquiline "Raccoon Runs Rampant", great alliteration there.

(On the other hand, it looks to me like all manner of rodents and small mammals are heeding the example of the capybaras and starting to organize and fight.)

    @inquiline Half of my favourite shitposters here are on firefish, and the other half are on dot art. Considering how things are going right now between these two servers, I would avoid both until the clouds clear a bit. So why not another account on the server you're already on?

    In all seriousness, I just had a look at the posts on the tag and it looks like it's functioning fine with multiple valences of "bear". Unless there's conflict I don't know about. It's possible, folks!

    @acousticmirror@post.lurk.org avatar

    @inquiline A friendly reminder is due that you can't spell "asset", "brass", "massive", "association", "grass", etc., without, well, "ass".

    Cue a variety of memes on the subject of useless effort, in different cultures and languages.

    You know what I’d really love? I’d love it if people stopped calling me a “doomer” because I think it’s much too late for carbon mitigation, and that we’ll have to wait for a massive contraction of the planetary economy before any gross reduction in emissions is possible. This is just facing up to the facts, not an admission of species-wide defeat or a counsel of passive acceptance.

    @adamgreenfield You're not a doomer, Adam. You're an informed pessimist.
