Me pasa que la gran mayoría de gente que conozco con la que hablo sobre género/movimiento feminista se politizó desde el mainstream en el estallido del 2018 o posteriormente. No era consciente de la falta que me hacía hablar con alguien que parte del mismo punto que yo, que llegué al tema bastante antes y a partir de los CSOAs y grupúsculos aledaños. El enfoque es muy distinto y creo que tiene que ver con las inquietudes que te hacían acercarte a esos sitios en primer lugar.

@mduritz Me acuerdo de la fase poco después del , cuando mucha gente me decía que se había politizado en esas fechas. Que antes no habían leído nada de feminismo ni se habían interesado mucho. Cosa que me resultaba extraña, porque, como punto de inflexión, el no era precisamente la cosa más feminista del planeta.

@mduritz Sí, claro que estaba . Estaba, sobre todo, porque al tercer día de acampada alguien tiró al suelo una pancarta feminista, como bien recordarás. Por eso siempre pongo en tela de juicio el talante feminista del : haberlo, húbolo, pero se tuvo que hacer un poco a golpes. Y a eso, en parte, le debemos lo del 2016-2018. (Eso otro de ahora con el terferío y demás no sé a qué se lo debemos, me da un poco de miedo pensar en ese rincón.)

Sadly, abusive and violent online behaviour tends to recurrent. It has now been more than a fortnight that this person hasn't ceased their harassment and sexist slurs against a Media Studies scholar in this community, despite concerted effort by many to curb their violence.

Indigenous people are currently being attacked by numerous people, due to standing up against targeted anti-Indigenous racism on Mastodon.
This is mostly via abusive toots and subtoots, and bad-faith reports accusing us of racism. But I have also recieved an abusive email from a new sock puppet account of a person evading suspendion @ aliceGutierrez@mastodon.world

Admins and mods: please keep an eye out for this current wave of anti-Indigenous racism, and take appropriate action. Thanks!

    @inquiline I was going to try to cheer this up with some proper East German disco antics, but eventually decided some Lederhosen dancing would be more interesting. Lots of spanki^H^H^H^H hand clapping, lots of (content warning) red meat on the fire, also some checks notes timber sawing and chopping, and the kind of "we're not gay" choreographies that can only appear in Europe:

    @inquiline Oh, no, I wasn't suggesting non-intervention. Quite the contrary. I was reflecting on the overall climate here (white people indigenousplaining, server relations not disimilar to a Battle of Verdun artillery barrage, etc.).

    I do think some kinds of intervention might sometimes be more effective (and less taxing on main) than others - say, in our beast of burden issue, I chose to stop ranting and quietly report. OTOH, one needs to be able to call attention to an issue when it arises.

    It's not going to be easy.

    thanks to a fantastic tip from an old poet friend, I bring you balloon mail as the latest wireless addition to the catalog! maps and lists of Balloon mail from Paris during the Franco-Prussian war (1870-71) taken from an incredible book called the American Air Mail Catalogue, 1966. "In all, 55 balloons, with mail, were released, carrying over 12 tons of mail (about 2,500,000 letters), 238 passengers, 361 pigeons and 5 dogs."

    Edit: "Gemeinschaftsverlorenheitsempfindungsmelancholie" has won by a wide margin. I was partial to the "Unvollständigeblasenblues" option, but it didn't get enough traction, basically garnering the same support as "Plattformmigrationsverlustmelancholie".

    The people have spoken, and here are some possibilities. What's your take?

    I'm very happy to see that we have the @CALandscapeBot bot here! I really like seeing these images.

    In 2020 during big fires, a camera burned. The bot glitched out and reposted this shot, the last image before the camera went dead, over & over for several months before getting put back online.

    @childovrarn I remember Steinski from back in the day. The only parallel I could establish back in the 90's was with Negativland. But it still took another decade until this kind of work became more mainstream.
