Fell in love with the gameboy camera again and I've been having a go at trichrome photography (combining red/green/blue-filtered exposures over a grayscale sensor to produce a color image). I'm really happy with how well the colors came out on this one!

@secretbatcave @luna @mattgrayyes yeah I really love it!!

@marwi transient pointers 🥳

You’ve made my week! I am so happy!

ada,
@ada@mastodon.social avatar

@marwi thank you! I can't get it to fire an arrow in the Vision Pro. I am not sure if I am doing something incorrect.

ada, (edited )
@ada@mastodon.social avatar

@marwi a quick correction you still get transient-pointer even if hand-tracking is enabled so you can use both at the same time.

Thanks for the video though I will give it another try tomorrow.

I was just informed by @tojiro that the initial work of WebVR (which later became WebXR) began 10 years ago on April 14th [edit: 6th]... 😱

We've just wrapped up another Immersive Web face-to-face and the work on WebXR is still ongoing!

@ada@mastodon.social avatar

I am very excited about this. You can use the gaze and pinch style interactions of visionOS in WebXR! This is a very natural feeling and precise way to interact with VR either up-close or at a distance whilst also being privacy preserving.

If you don't have a Vision Pro then you can test it on your sites in the Simulator via Xcode on MacOS.

@utopiah I don't think so I would be happy to advise on how to make one but I can't really make direct contributions right now.

Lost, circa-2008 Timesplitters 4 prototype discovered on PS3 dev kit

Redditor paid a reported $670 to rescue the unit and archive the game for posterity.

I’m now in the Bay Area and may have some availability to speak at a conference later this year, can anyone suggest any good Web themed conferences that may want a speaker about WebXR that I should put a CFP in for?

Has there been some HTML proposal about datetime translation? Say I have 2024-02-20T19:21+0100, I want to show the local time of the user based on this time, but without having to bake a custom script and UI for that.

We already have new Date() that can do the translation, and we have <time> element that technically represents this kind of thing, so maybe we already have the building blocks?

ada,
@ada@mastodon.social avatar

@krosylight afaik there isn’t an element which does it for you, the idea of time is to let you set the computer readable time In the datetime attribute.

There are also the Intl API which could be used to make a Web component which does it automatically: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Intl/DateTimeFormat

As someone who uses hearing aids, I'm asking, no begging, anyone who works at Apple to get a feature added to the iPhone.

Let me manually decide to connect to hearing aids. I want to use them sometimes in Bluetooth mode to connect to the phone. But not always. If I'm in a lecture, I don't want a "ding" on my phone muting the audio of the lecture so the phone can grab the Bluetooth of the hearing aids.

Even better: let me select what things the phone will use the hearing aids for.

ada,
@ada@mastodon.social avatar

@joelle the best way to get action on this is to submit it via “feedback assistant” which directly creates issues in Apple’s bug tracker

“Integer math in Javascript.” Excellent short post, and really saved me on some optimization work recently.

ada,
@ada@mastodon.social avatar

@donmccurdy this feels like a hack where BigInt is the correct modern way to do this and is widely supported

ada,
@ada@mastodon.social avatar

@donmccurdy @tojiro that’s cool, nice perf gain!! I heard BigInt is real fast but haven’t looked into it myself but if you’ve already got it working well, there isn’t much point in refactoring just to use the shiny new thing.
