I was just thinking: is mountain biking the "extreme" / action sport most likely to survive after The Collapse™?
Cities will be too dirty for skateboarding and rollerblading, snowboarding and skiing require both snow and access to high altitudes. Maybe BMX will also have a chance in rubble filled cities?
Am i the only person wondering about these things?
"In fact, the #Gaza solidarity encampments on campuses are student-organized and led, with Palestinian students at front and center, and a disproportionately large presence of Jewish students too. It is students, over 1,000 of them, who have faced arrest."
Well done. Facebook (sorry, "Meta"): "Reality Labs has now lost more than $45 billion since the end of 2020, when Meta first began reporting the business segment separately."
Yes, billion with a B.
That's an insane amount of money. I don't even want to go into the whole "think how many hospitals could have been funded with that money".
Quick reminder that @element built a metaverse that works better than anything Facebook has shown, for a fraction of the investment, and built entirely on free and open source technology including @matrix : https://thirdroom.io/
Really? It's 2024, i'm pretty sure this is a behaviour that should be enforced by your mail reader rather than me artificially breaking
lines just
to
fit an ancient
custom.
Also, how many pixels wide is your screen? I mean, it's up to you if you want to read text on the visual equivalent of a pocket pack of tissues at the end of the day i suppose.
@axx I have evolved on that (but still no to HTML 😛 ), also a better reason to stop doing that is accessibility, because newlines interfere with readers which will think it's a new sentence…
Location services in #GNOME are eerily precise. As in, to a few metres. Even when tunnelling all traffic through a Wireguard VPN exiting in a different country.
As someone still a bit scarred by Enemy of the State even 25 years later, that freaks me out.
And a cursory search has not reassured me much. It uses Mozilla location services, that much is clear, but how does it still provide such a precise location when traffic is tunnelled?
