To everyone who complains about people who sort their books by color ( and anyone else who has books)- how do you sort your books? Because me personally, my books are not sorted. They are put any place I can find room.

I'm writing a short essay (a subsection of a chapter) about the art of purposeful browsing. Came across Virginia Woolf's remarks on "the learner" versus "the reader" in her "Hours in a Library." Anyone know of other essays, musings, speculations on these kinds of themes? @bibliolater ?

My science Twitter contacts seem much more enthusiastic about Bluesky than Mastodon. The greatest criticism I have heard about Mastodon is its decentralized nature; people were afraid of being stuck in silos. As far as I understand, #Bluesky is also decentralized, yet this does not seem to be how is how it is perceived. It seems like an opportunity has been missed here.

Hey how's your experience in #mastodon so far?

As a former birdie wandering for a new place, I am still longing basic features and experience I had in the other platform.

Things I miss:
Knowing the impact of my postings. I really miss the number of impressions feature.

Being able to schedule postings.

A good search function .

Also I've had some pleasant interactions/read interesting threads and information here which are keeping me here for now.

@SanGasso These are certainly different types of #socialmedia platforms.

I have found personally that interactions on #Mastodon are greater than on #Twitter.

The 'general #culture' here seems helpful and I have not had any bad experiences so far.

For me it took time getting used to #Mastodon but I have found the effort was certainly worth it.

I am in the process of migrating the #QOTO nextcloud server from our smaller mysql database to our beast of a postgresql database. This should save us some money since I can retire the mysql database and should significantly improve performance. The nextcloud will be down intermittently while I upgrade but should be back up in the next 30 minutes or so.
