Well, I did not think Trump would get convicted. Now I'm sort of curious how that worked. Would there not be a statute of limitations on those kind of fraud charges which occurred 8 1/2 years ago? No kind of American legal expert but pretty sure they couldn't charge him when he was president but does that extend the satute?

This was a thread I've pulled over from X before the knowledge that the vote passed, but I truly think my points still stand. So, I'll offer insight here for those areas that don't offer online voting:

The privilege of not needing an online voting option does not legitimize a push against the option. I hope (I'm glad) our @cityofguelph considers (considered) the equity of its disabled voters with this decision. 🧵

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@mothdust yes, at some point in my life, I would like to cast a vote in any election that I could actually do completely by myself like everyone else gets to.

I don’t know why this just popped into my head. OK, so Apple removed the physical Sim cards from their new phones. That kind of destroys the dual Sim functionality they bragged about.

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@evilcookies98 yeah but only in the US market. Not sure why but yeah

A recruiter from Cisco contacted me about an accessibility engineer job in San Jose. So... that's a thing, apparently.

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@drew they could sure use it!

Completed a huge personal milestone today. Facilitated my first ever talk at an conference! Thanks to the for putting it on, and thanks to all of the attendees who came out (even though I experienced a little technical difficulty)!

@mothdust mine turn is tomorrow

I believe I am going to return the smart glasses I purchased because many of the fundamental functions such as checking battery status, knowing if the glasses are on or off, etc., are not accessible for a person who is deafblind. Meaning that those particular statuses are spoken only by the glasses… Which I cannot hear. Everything else, such as OCR results and seen descriptions is pushed through the app which is accessible via braille. Also, it takes forever to recognize things. It is so slow!

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@Pawpower too bad. Was hoping those would have worked out better for you!

adam, to random

I'm so glad that my ISP allows up to five unique, and fully publically routable connections. Totally makes my life easier when testing security policies, firewalls, and VPN connections.

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@adam nice, wish I could have this. who do you have?

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@adam okay, didn't know they allowed that many. OH well, doesn't matter. it is not available in this building in Toronto and isn't worth moving to get. Too bad. that would be very useful. I have two public routable ips from Rogers but that is all I can get I think.

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@adam correct but there is a weird bug if I try and get to my other network on a completely different IP v4 address from the one I am on now, it doesn't respond. there is something weird with this modem in bridge mode where I can't see the other network from here. from outside this subnet, it is fine.

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@adam correct

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@adam not that it matters but it is sftp and ssh

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@adam yes, a router on one and a computer on the other which is properly firewalled etc. have checked firewall and nothing there. There is actually also an nvda remote server running on that thing and I can't use it from rog PUBl IP 2

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@adam I suspect you are correct about a security policy thing.

Do any Ontarians know where I can find a list of devices covered by the Assistive Devices Program? I looked on their website and had no luck finding anything.

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@rowdyamerican its there but not easy to find. I will try and come up wit hit. It is pretty out dated. ARe you looking for something specific?

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@rowdyamerican I was eligible a couple of years ago but there's not much I really want although I would like a mantis

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@rowdyamerican yes, its very nice. I like it a lot and was pretty enthusiastic when I did the evaluation for ADP

Guys, despite always getting a boiler-plate response to my accessibility requests to Tinder, after they have received them, they have always been very quickly and positively responsive, sometimes within a few days. So would highly recommend any other blind folk on there who have accessibility concerns just to contact them. Here’s the direct link to the Contact form. (1/2)

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@AuroraNebulosa is that thing even usable? I tried it a few years ago and it was a total fail with voice over? haven't looked in a long time though.

bmoore123,

@AuroraNebulosa alright. I might take another look. thx

My friend who is leaving is only taking as much green as he's allowed to take on the plane. So he's leaving the rest to me. He says he has quite a bit, so we'll see. Either way I score.

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@InsaneAtheist yep, only 30 grams allowed on flights.

I would love it if other blind people on Facebook understood that not everyone learns at the same pace as them. Admittedly I'm not the best at cutting my food and I had asked a question regarding cutting steak. There were a few who said they never cut their steak. They always get the chef to cut it, and there were a few who mentioned plate guards, which is a good idea once I can get money. But of course there had to be that one person who is like, "you don't know how to cut anything?

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@HUGGINGMELLO people can be pricks especially behind a keyboard. putting the effort in is what counts.

@HUGGINGMELLO I remember really struggling to learn to do that as a kid.

I love love love the fact that my regional healthcare facility uses MyChart. Because even if my mom doesn't go there and can't access it, I can, and I can put the reminders in my iThing or Android calendars, and/or send her the invites, or just remind her when/if the deskperson tells her the wrong time when they enter the appointment. No, actually they put it in for $ThisTime, not $thatOne. My local uses something else that's a little less niftilicious and I have to rely on text messages to do the job for me.

bmoore123,
@bmoore123@disabled.social avatar

@technolass @munchkinbear @Meepercat life labs has it but I think that system is not accessible cause AODA and similar can't be enforced. they just want to talk nice!
