Yesterday I installed Debian with Mate in a virtualbox just because I was bored. It felt great.

I am probably just old and stuck to ancient visual ui paradigms but and are way better looking and more comfortable to use than Gnome or KDE.

Gnome feels unfinished. Feels like trying to use a computer with a tablet interface. Feels like I am being treated as dumb. (1/2)

Using KDE feels like I am also being treated as dumb but for other reasons. KDE is ugly as hell with the small icon bouncing beside the mouse cursor. KDE is also super visual confusing and feels busy. Unnecessary.

I honestly don’t get it why people insist on these two. Maybe they’re too invested and now feels like they can’t come back but there are better options out there.

I don’t think I will stop using Cinnamon soon but it is so nice and comfortable to know Mate is there. (2/2)

@marroco Tem algumas coisas de mercado que eu compro pela Amazon (prime). Tem outras que compro no MercadoLivre (meli+). Para muito pouca coisa já usei plataformas dos próprios mercados (aqui em minha cidade o ApoioMineiro era o mais barato. Já comprei no Daki também, mas costuma ser mais caro.

@garotadpi É o que mais tem. Plataforma safada não faz nada porque ganha horrores com isso. No ep. a jornalista fala que um golpista foi responsável por grande montante de investimento em impulsionamento.

Ultimamente tenho usado o com grande desapontamento.

As questões relacionadas à gestão e ao futuro incerto da iniciativa me deixam com um pouco de receio sobre o uso. Além disso tem a questão de que o Firefox jamais funcionou bem com parte dos serviços que uso profissionalmente; especialmente o Microsoft Teams (🤮).

É uma pena porque a iniciativa que trouxe o Firefox ao mundo sempre foi bastante bacana e se adequa ao que coletivamente percebemos ser o melhor para a web.

Por isso coloco uma pergunta genuína: Muito se argumenta que o problema que estejamos vivendo atualmente com relação a navegadores se dê em função do fato de que boa parte das opções que as pessoas enxergam sejam baseadas no Chromium e, este projeto, por sua vez, é controlado na prática pelo Google. De fato isso é preocupante. Tendo este cenário posto (problemas na Mozilla + influência do Google nos navegadores baseados em Chromium), quais são as alternativas viáveis?

Eu toparia usar algum fork do Firefox que funcionasse bem no iOS e no Linux (sistemas que uso atualmente). Seria um baita plus se serviços como Microsoft Teams e PWAs funcionassem neste navegador também. Há alguém trabalhando nisso? Existem iniciativas nesse sentido?

I had an account at #Skiff. Just deleted it after getting the notion news. Sad to know the service will be now part of notion (🤮).

One extra reason for people to become paying subscribers (I am in the process of becoming) to services like #Tutanota and #Proton
