#GoodMorning!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was chill on Saturday, wildly busy on Sunday with drop off for a science program for my oldest.

And the rest of this week promises to be busy between work & birthdays.

Tomorrow MDMRNia (11) becomes 12. And Thursday I turn 40.

And Friday my marriage turns 16...and I have to go pick up Little MDMRN at the end of the program.

So, busy week!

The way in which a character can be buffed while being hit, which results in them being stuck in that animation, enlarged then returned to regular size, all with a goofy expression on their faces never fails to crack me up.

Some recent #BoardGame plays:

A new couple started showing up at my FLGS. Introduced them to Ticket to Ride: Europe last Thursday. Brought along the trains from The Little Plastic Train Company, which are always a hit.

Last Saturday, we played #SpiritIsland. I think it might have been a bit much for them, but they got the hang of it by the end.

Yesterday, Architects of the West Kingdom hit the table. First time at 5, and it's still great, even with that many people!

Midway through a four player game of Spirit Island. Four island boards are connected together into a diamond shape. Wooden discs representing the spirits' presence, wooden huts representing the natives, and plastic people, towns, and cities representing the invaders are spread out across the board.
End game state for Architects of the West Kingdom. Wooden meeples occupy various locations of a medieval town where different actions can be taken. Two rows of cards line the near corner, showing various artisans that each give a buff to an action on the board. The far corner has five neat rows of meeples occupying the guild hall where players can build buildings or contribute to the cathedral.

Caligula 2 (and the first game) have banger soundtracks. Only negative is the remixes you can get in-game can’t be used for battles.

I had the chance to play #TwilightImperium again on Saturday. I was playing as The Nekro Virus, a robotic faction that can't research technologies, instead copying them when you destroy an enemy ship in combat. I'm fairly conflict-averse in games like this, which should run against this faction's strengths, but knowing that fighting me makes me stronger worked as a deterrent, too. Unfortunately, while I did get 10 points, I wasn't the first one to 10. Fun game, though! #BoardGame #BoardGames

New instance, new #introduction.

I’m coffeentacos, pronouns are he/him. Mid-30s married cat dad. In the midst of a career change to libraries, and I’m already working in one before being halfway through my studies.

Interests are all over the place but main ones are: #PuzzleGames, #FightingGames, #horror, #STGs (they’re not shmups, come on 😅), #BoardGames, #SEGABlueSkies, #Mahjong, and a variety of other things I’ll likely post about.

I don’t really engage in fandoms, tend to prefer a more relaxed approach to enjoying things.
