can anyone help me remember: a while back, a game dev or studio had made t-shirt kind of embracing the concept of walking sims, rather than the term being a put down on games.

I’ve tried searching but with only “walking sim” and “t shirt” not a whole lot comes up 😅

I want to say they had made one of their own but I can’t recall which. Pretty sure it was after Firewatch but don’t know for sure

@fujiwara silly yes, but depending on what the haptics do, it could make it feel more “normal” (I don’t know what its features are).

A big complaint I’ve heard from many about drawing on iPad or basically any glass screen is how different it feels from paper. If that were somehow addressed there, could negate the need for textured screen protectors.

@fujiwara finding mobile optimized wallpapers is so annoying! Loads of spammy websites and apps, 00s forum sig looking wallpapers, just too much trash to sort through.

@fujiwara yeah. There was a while where a lot of (official)sites offered wallpapers at a variety of resolutions but that seems to be a rarity now

for years I’d kind of ignored Sword Art Online, justifying it with what I heard that was negative about it. More recently I got curious and kinda wanted to see what the deal was with it that it’s been so enduring and essentially blowing up the VRMMO anime genre.

Just finished it and while there were some bits I didn’t like (second arc antagonist 😒) I enjoyed it quite a bit overall!

A lot of what I’d heard was kind of overblown compared to how things were in the show, which was nice. All a long way to say, that was fun, need to remind myself I can check things out if they’re interesting to me and not feel bad about that.

    I'm tired of seeing people wanting every game that isn't perfect to be remade. So many YouTube videos about how Yakuza 3's remaster was a mistake, they should have remade the entire game. It's okay for games to be old!!

    @fujiwara the attitude of old = bad is so weird. Just because something isn’t up to current standards in aspects doesn’t mean it’s a failing. I’m also kinda tired of everything being remakes. I understand why it’s happening but it’s so much less interesting to me than tries at new things.

    @fujiwara I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with that. More so the attitude that anything old we liked “needing” to be remade. Remakes can be nice when they provide a new take on something, or take something that may not have been great and the new version does interesting things!

    @fujiwara last minute plans are the worst. My partner and I have full schedules and my mom is constantly trying to just drop in. Just like, make a plan in advance, give us notice so we can plan around it! It’s not hard!

    Sometimes I just want to stay home and play some games or read, that’s enough to not drop, because sometimes it’s hard to have that time!

    Seeing some buzz about the game Stitch on the Switch being a Picross-like. It's not, it's a Shikaku-like. imho Shikaku puzzles feel more tactile and rely on spatial recognition, like you're fitting wooden blocks into place and taking them back out, versus pure logic/counting nonograms. I like Shikaku but yeah, just a heads up, they're pretty different

    Despite already having read every book in the series, I'm thoroughly enjoying the new Spice and Wolf anime.

    The pacing is great for the content being translated to the screen, and they are intelligently skipping over bits that are less intriguing or important to the story in favor of focusing on the more exciting mercantile subterfuge and relationship between Lawrence and Holo. I'm also a big fan of how much more expressive they've made Holo's animation this time around.

    Episode 3 is in the bag and I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out

    Train to the End of the World Episode 1

    Wth was that setup? 😂 This show got super weird and interesting fast. Cute girls doing cute things in a tripped out Japan.

    Trying not to be too specific to not spoil what happens in the beginning of the show. I'm hoping this holds up, cuz it's really intriguing.
