I saw a bumper sticker that said “Autism Isn’t A Processing Error, It’s A Different Operating System.”

While I can relate to that personally, I think it would be more accurate to describe Autism as a different instruction set.

This means we can efficiently run any program if it’s properly compiled to run natively. Some translation layers can be highly efficient, while others might result in a loss of 30+% performance.

Looking for #NixOS tips!

I use :arch: #Arch on my main PC and laptop but considering NixOS for a more stable option on my laptop with less frequent updates. Any favorite tools for Nix?

Also, looking for a way to easily transfer my most used packages from Arch to NixOS, if possible.

Currently, I’m experimenting with Nix in a VM.

Someone give me excuses for my manager as to why I can’t wear a name tag?

(It has my dead name on it, and I don’t want certain people to see my new name yet. I broke it awhile back but my manager noticed today and said “we need to get you a new one don’t we”)

@anthropy oh they don’t know about my new name either, they want to get me a new name tag with my dead name because I broke my old name tag and haven’t been wearing one for awhile. I don’t want to come out to my management either. I am not in a safe state, and my city doesn’t have a non-discrimination statute…. So it would be a whole lawsuit just to force them to be supportive if they didn’t want me to be.

I work a job facing the pubic in a very conservative state with anti-trans laws on the books. Dishonesty is the best policy.
