This galactic community keeps growing, and even though the fear of the Empire seems to keep everyone in check, it would probably still be nice to have a Jedi Council to keep an eye on things too....
Don’t get me wrong. I love Linux and FOSS. I have been using and installing distros on my own since I was 12. Now that I’m working in tech-related positions, after the Reddit migration happened, etc. I recovered my interest in all the Linux environment. I use Ubuntu as my main operating system in my Desktop, but I always end...
The idea is that it’s very hard to break the system, because apps are containerized, so they don’t ‘touch’ the system, and updates take effect only on reboots.
If update is broken, it won’t apply. And you can always rollback to previous state, if you don’t like something.
You don’t need to install stuff from the terminal, and you can install them from a GUI ‘store’.
I have only used mint, pop, and nobara on my pc,I tried vanilla but didnt like it, Is there any good ubuntu based distro thats easy to use? I can use the terminal fine,I also want gnome 44
My first question was if it will be FOSS, that's really great, thanks.
If possible, it would be great to have an option to add custom instances.
Plus, the option to 'force' it to add the instance; even it the app thinks it's not a valid instance.
On Jeroba and Lemmur, you can add only some of the instances (the app probably checks a list). Both of them don't let you to add some of the new instances.
Thanks in advance for your work man. I'll be happy to help with testing, if you want.
Hey guys, a week ago I started working on a lemmy app like many others as an excuse to learn flutter. Along the way I found an old app that was abandoned but very well built....
You can, if the app 'allows' you to (I guess it checks a list or smth).
I tried few days ago to add some of the new instances, to check if it truly allow you to add any instance. It didn't let me to add those. Jeroba has the same problem.
I tried w/ VPN, and also w/ Tor.
If possible, to 'force' it to add an intance even if it fails to confirm it's a valid instance.
We interviewed Dr. Stallman 6 years ago for our VUC podcast (2007-2019). Unfortunately, the video isn't available as he refused to use YouTube. I know the episode is on Spotify, but it may be available on other podcatchers.
My subrsiption with surfshark is ending soon and I was wondering if there was something better around the same price. There are a lot of ads about many VPNs but a lot of them don't look so "safe and private" as they want you to think so it's hard to really figure it out. I don't want to spend too much since I don't use them very...

You can install LineageOS GSI (generic system image). GSI, as the name implies, is generic; it means that the OS won't know your actual model, so it'll have some little weird things, like the camera location in the UI.
What terminal file manager that you use, if any?
Long time nnn user right now. But interested in hearing some other people suggestions in case I missed something more interesting.
Wednesday is Droids Day. Also, some (META) things, so please read (lemmy.world)

Why is Linux so frustrating for some people?

Just an idea since there isn't one yet. Obviously hoping this leads to some comments with customized ideas & discussion.
