This is the most specific he can be.

just got this jetpack updates email which says you'll be able to ai-generate your featured image directly inside wordpress

this is getting surreal

In this one I talk about what openai really demonstrated in their spring update

In this one I talk about the tech industry products that have more potential than purpose

It’s great to see MKBHD give no slack to trash products but I feel like “they don’t deliver on their promise” is wrong because most of the time there isn’t even a promise. Just hints and insinuations carried along by the hype.

There really is no basis for assessing something like the rabbit R1’s ability to deliver, because what does delivering look like?

The promise, the purpose, is vaporous.

“Here, see what you can do with this” is the definition of novelty

My response to AI customer service is to hit up the company’s senior employees on LinkedIn.

I feel like the use of computation for everything and how broken everything is becoming makes sense when you think of computation as a building material instead of a technology

“We have this technology, what can we apply it to?” is shifting deliberation from the means to the ends.

It’s anti-design.

Tech should call additional features complications like watchmakers do

Jakob Nielsen’s all-in on AI is melting my brain.

Don't like seeing web design OGs pushing generative AI stuff. Reminds me of aging James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich telling Kirk not to do his guitar solos because the kids aren't into it.

"100 followers | 100 following"

could save me so many cognitive milliseconds by changing to:

"100 followers | following 100"

"Like for the longest time I kept coming back to who these systems were for. Why they existed and why they were – in their hollowness – embraced this fiercely. But the longer I think about it there is only one reasoning: “AI image generators” are a phenomenon of late stage capitalism."

Hollow, Empty, Cold are words we're going to be using more in time.

Understanding the thoughts and feelings of others because you want them to be satisfied users is not empathy, it's customer acquisition and retention.

I'm at a point where I don't have the energy to read anything, complimentary or critical, about AI. It's such a sudden torrent of commentary that I've gone into the flight reaction and can feel myself pretending it doesn't exist.
