Calling it! Between the SDK, Xcode, Geekbench flag detection & more, Apple has officially brought the first Arm Scalable Matrix Extension enabled device to market in the new . With that also comes the move from NEON/ASIMD to the Streaming Scalable Vector Extensions

There's mild speculation on SVE, SVE2 and SME2, but not enough to comment on

@mose @ObjectiveT as far as I’m aware, v9.2 requires SME, but I’m not sure if the opposite is true. That’s to say, it could be that a device is V8.7 and is optionally choosing to add SME support.

Speaking purely in generalities, and only asking about the spec, maybe @jonmasters can help?

Tidal has updated me to its "FLAC" quality level without charging me any additional money.

This makes me happy because (1) it is very good quality and (2) it's cool they're giving it at the low pay tier.

I am also VERY CONFUSED about whether the label "FLAC" actually means "FLAC" or "some other high-quality compression algorithm we think is good", because they've been misleading about this before!

@mcc it used to all be MQA, but mqa has been shown to be lossy/nonsense. They’re transitioning the catalog to flac, but some tracks only have their best recording available as MQA; until the switch is complete, you’ll see a mix of both

I forget what, but something reminded me of how in elementary school they put me in a speech therapy class where they essentially just taught me to talk slower. I never really thought much about that, but while I was thinking about it now I was reminded of how over the years I've had so many friends where we would just have long deep non-linear mile-a-minute conversations about stuff we're excited about and, well, most of them also have been diagnosed with ADHD at some point lol

2 hours later we were talking about the mappings and design of CFD to match specific pieces of hw.

I can’t imagine not being legitimately excited to talk about these sort of things with people.

Effectively fluid dispersion in different environments

Can be used for making trains/cara more efficient in the design process by lowering drag

Also used (in the case) to quickly model what happens when ex: train carrying hazardous materials is derailed near a lake. Informs where to deploy resources beyond just “downstream”

In this case discussion centred on the grid resolution vs time to solution problem for emergency response

I was looking at it from the PoV where any profit/margin is effectively a donation to the project!

40 USD is roughly 50 CAD. It’s not inexpensive, but for a large, niche plush, isn’t all that weird.

From the images, it looks a lot like a squishmallow type plush?
