Hate those fake updates from USPS where their computer sees that nothing has happened for a couple of days and inserts some generic "oh, we've totally put it on a truck and it's heading to you!” It has been sitting there for 3 days! Definitely not arriving today. 😔

For the last couple of days I've been working on an #OpenSCAD program to create custom #Pantorouter tenons. Set the tenon dimensions, the inner bit/bearing, outer bit/bearing, rows/columns, and it does all the math. But after printing out a full size paper preview I think what I want to do is going to be much bigger than the Pantorouter can handle. #woodworking

@moira It's a dual extruder so in theory I could print the mark with a different color. But using the dual extruder is a major pain. But you're right, all I need to do is fill the mark. Might be able to just use a bit of clear or different colored glue.

@moira @NF6X I'm probably overthinking it. Who cares if there's a tiny dent that gets transferred to the tenon in the center? It’s just more space for glue!

Hit a bit of a road block this morning. I need to setup my 4 channel oscilloscope but my bench is a bit full. And my scope is gigantic.

Am I missing something? Where is this setting in Ventura? I've looked all over and I can't find any place to configure having the Mac go to sleep after some amount of time. They just stay awake 24x7.

Been a little while since I’ve felt a bit over my head with a project. But I’m not sure how to troubleshoot this Legend S’ RAM 1MB card. I’m able to yank every IC and test them and they all pass. Except for the PAL16R8A. I have no idea how I could possibly test it. No schematics for the card available. The diagnostic software reports different failures each run. Software is also undocumented (“return card to us”) so the error codes aren’t helpful.

Opening up my Commodore Plus/4 to see if I can get it going again. The LED turns on but there’s no video signal.

At first I thought this was some kind of film viewer, but I see a couple of 5.25” floppy drives under it. Anyone know what it is?

I think I'm ready to move the drives to my real server. Hopefully I've got enough copied that I'll only be offline for a few hours. Level 29 BBS will be down too.

I've got a list of points in and I'm trying to make a new list which is the distance of all the points from the first one, but I'm getting the impression that it's impossible to do so.

Why do companies insist on taking 24fps video, doing a terrible conversion to 25fps, then doing another terrible conversion from 25fps to 30fps, and releasing it that way?

I have this nice warm spot to sit in the sun and I keep thinking about coming out here with a computer. But it’s so bright it will wash out the screen. I wonder if I have any old passive matrix monochrome computers that I could do WiFi and telnet. And have a working battery.

It took over a month to get the tapes, but I can now confirm that the "high quality" and "fully restored" DVD remaster of BraveStarr was done by people that had no clue what they were doing. They scanned the 24fps film, sped it up to 25fps, and then converted it from 25fps to 30fps. And to top it all off, there's no PAL release of BraveStarr at all so it makes no sense to have sped it up to 25fps.

Goofing around with combining the and . Can’t seem to get the template dimensions quite right. I’m trying to replicate a key ring that got damaged a few years ago. 2x template was way too small, 3x is way too big. I’ve got a 1/8” bit in the router and using the 6mm shaft of a bearing to trace the template.

Probably not faster than using my mini-CNC since it took 2 hours to print the 3x template. Although if I were mass producing several it would be.

After milling with pantorouter. Small one was cut using 2x template, big one with 3x template.

To people writing shell scripts: stop putting a .sh extension on them if I can't do sh script.sh

The extension is supposed to tell me which interpreter I can use to run it. If you're going to get it wrong then you might as well put any other random extension on it like .py or .tcl.

I just put up a web server 30 seconds ago using a subdomain I created last night and it's already getting hammered by bots. They have to have the right hostname in order for it to pass through all the vhost proxy stuff I've got going on. How the heck did they get the hostname so quickly?

Watching #LGR's bubblejet video makes me sad I can't get cartridges for my DesignJet 488CA anymore. Oh the fun I had unclogging cartridges with my vacuum cleaner and the simple adapter I made!

Just a block of wood with a hole the size of the vacuum hose and a piece of foam with a slot for the inkjet cartridge. Worked amazingly well to unclog a cartridge.

It's the 23rd century and computer modems haven't been invented yet. Computers can only share data using a person to read it & relay by voice to another person to enter. You're developing a computerized RPG combat simulator for you & a friend stationed on a starbase in the next quadrant. Each turn is more complex than simple coordinates describing what piece moves where. How to encode data, keeping it wieldy for humans? (This is for the upcoming #BASICMonth.) #RetroComputing #VintageComputing

What was the last printed magazine article to publish detailed plans for building your own computer, and when was it? 1990s? Early ‘80s? I’m talking about plans with detailed schematics and PCB layouts, like the Mark-8 or COSMAC ELF.
