I hope the TV and film writers get everything they are asking for. Without them there’d be nothing to watch at all. And kudos for attempting to protect themselves against AI coming for their jobs. I wish graphic artists had similar power.

I’m old enough to remember when Instagram scammers would build rapport via DM for over a week before casually bringing up cryptocurrency. Just had one posing as a jet setting, science fiction loving fashion designer. “She” only waited 3 days before tipping her hand. Gave her a climate emergency guilt lecture and blocked/ reported.

I just caught a matinee of RETURN OF THE JEDI and forty years after the first time I saw it in the theatre it is still a huge thrill and one hell of a movie. If you get a chance get out to see it again.

@Gte So much of what Lucas wrote in the prequels about how Anakin turned to the dark side made little to no sense. BUT Vader’s threat to turn Leia to him was genius. It was the perfect catalyst for Luke’s potential turn and makes for one of the most dramatic sequences in all of Star Wars. It still gives me goose bumps.

So last couple mornings a little hummingbird has been coming to my window and picking at the various spider webs in the corners of the window. I thought he/she might be gathering nesting material but nope. Turns out hummingbirds eat small insects like mosquitoes, gnats and spiders for nutrition and now I know something I didn’t before. Saw it actually take a spider in its open beak. Neat!

@johnvoorhees @macstories @viticci So I have one main Mona question: What happens when you (at random) scroll to select a post in the Mac timeline? Does it open a detail view like Ivory (which I can’t honestly deal with) or does it merely highlight the post to set your selection position? If the latter how do you get details on the post? Double click it? Tap a more … button?

This single interaction has kept me from using Ivory on the Mac. Curious if it’s more Twitterrific like in Mona. Thx!

@johnvoorhees @macstories @viticci Ugh. I was afraid of that. Makes it virtually impossible to scroll to a timeline position and set the reading position without extra, annoying clicks. Forcing the user to select only with the keyboard is a non-starter for me. Thanks. Sigh 😞

@dharrison @johnvoorhees @macstories @viticci Yeah but you cannot actually use the scroll bars to read this way. I typically put my mouse on the scroll bar and quickly advance through the timeline skipping over posts I don’t need to pay attention to. When I arrive at the top or near the top I select that post as visual way to note my position. The mere act of selecting that post will open it so I must close the detail view. Annoying and unnecessary IMHO.

Just re-watched TNG S7 E9 ‘Force of Nature’, the one where a brother sister scientist team reveal warp drive is slowly destroying the galaxy.

Forgot how good this ep was and what an incredible allegory for climate change it is. This is the stuff Star Trek became famous for, Gene’s morality plays.

If you’ve not watched this ep in a while queue it up. The stuff with Data, Geordi and Spot is also golden. 🖖

I went to In-N-Out with my friend Josh and my girlfriend. And then I went to go see Return of the Jedi in theaters. So all around, pretty top-notch day. Exemplary. Would live this day over and over again and would be very happy.

Ummm….Clarence Thomas is being financed by a billionaire GOP megadonor. Gorsuch did not disclose he sold a property to the CEO of a law firm. Chief Justice Thomas Roberts’ wife, Jane, was paid $10.3 million in commissions from “elite law firms” that had business before the court.

But yeah - people are being “unfair.”
