As we accept an invitation to another fundraiser brunch, I am
newly reminded that we live in a country where harm and compulsion (armies, police who are unaccountable including when they murder our neighbors) are mandatory and fully handled by the state, whereas basic necessities (food, shelter, medical care, transportation) are optional and fractionally handled by fundraiser brunches.
