You might have heard that "EV sales are slumping", "people are starting to avoid EVs", etc.

That's not what's happening.

What's happening is "Tesla is cratering so hard that it's skewing the aggregate market data."

@ShredderFeeder @jannem @CosmicTraveler @mhoye I do this every month, and regularly need to round trip Seattle to Portland without time to charge. Between that and not having access to a charger at my house or any other location, and it's a completely unavailable solution for me.

That said, I recognize I'm in the vast minority here. Essentially everyone in America should be able to do EVs already even without better infrastructure.

this phenomenon where trans women have an easier time carving out niches in male-dominated spaced than anywhere else… fedi, mtg tournaments, speedrunning, etc. it’s a little exhausting really. especially when we get propped up in this “see? we’re inclusive” kind of way when the underlying problem usually hasn’t been addressed — men in these spaces just see us as unthreatening and undesirable

Extremely typical of @analog_ashley that she is capable of giving a talk in a bar that's both a full stand-up comedy routine that has people shouting with laughter yet also teaching how to engage with open datasets in neuroscience

Lord do I wish tech conferences had more talks like this

@adrianco unfortunately, no. I already have a company offsite at the same time, which is quite unfortunate. Alex suggested that I just quit so that I can go to monitorama instead. While the idea was tempting, I did decide to pass on it, but that means I'm going to be there

btw, if you want to not do this, and you're using argocd, you can do this really nifty thing assuming you have the argocd CLI setup and logged in, + entr installed:

echo <your-file-name.yaml> | entr -s 'argocd app create -f <your-file-name.yaml> --upsert --validate=false

What this does, is it modifies your application in argocd immediately, and does so automatically every time you save the file

Now keep this running somewhere:
argocd app logs -f <app-name>

Do, save, see: cool huh?

This new iPad Pro is fantastic. Very happy with it. Except it’s also not a MacBook Air. All this power and this 3 legged OS. Stage Manager is a weak simulacrum of a window manager. Please unify these operating systems.

@shanselman I've been waiting for this ever since they switched to Apple Silicon everywhere for their professors. Same architecture, why no same OS?

As much as people bemoan losing desktop functionality on a laptop... I absolutely want to be able to turn a laptop into iOS and vice versa. So many people still need laptops for one thing or another but realistically find the OS too complex to use for much and so they end up using an iPad for daily computing

Both OS experiences are valid :)
