Falls, ja falls, es zu einer erfolgreichen Aufklärung, Verurteilung und zu Strafen in der Syltgeschichte kommt, wird es wohl bei einer Geldstrafe bleiben.

@jele Medienberichten zu Folge sind ja nun weitestgehend alle Beteiligten identifiziert worden und viele haben wohl in der Tat eine fristlose Kuendigung erhalten.

Immerhin.

Die Frage bleibt natuerlich, ob die dann wieder recht schnell irgendwo anders ein Bein an die Erde bekommen oder das einfach mit Papis Geld aussitzen, bis Gras ueber die Sache gewachsen ist?

uff. anders als bei lemmy ist das curated onboarding bei pixelfed eher wertlos... richtige user müssen erst noch gefunden werden.... bleibt eigentlich nurnoch captcha übrig (evtl vorher ein fail2ban experiment). spam detection schön und gut aber die hat auch false positives und ist ineffizient zu staubsaugen :/

Bin ja ein bißchen stolz auf unsere nun bald 1-jährige Hündin @emma:

Sie hat einen kleinen Spielzeug-Hasen. Wir nennen den immer "Hasi".

Nun lag Hasi im Wohnzimmer, ich war im Flur und Emma kam grad aus dem Schlafzimmer. Ich sagte zu ihr: "Wo ist Hasi? Hol Hasi!"
Sie schaute mich kurz an, überlegte und taperte dann los ins Wohnzimmer und brachte Hasi.

Sie kann also:

@tuxedocomputers Darf ich mal fragen, wie ihr als Unternehmen mit Mastodon im Vergleich zu Twitter zufrieden seid? Trauert ihr irgendwelchen hohen Followerzahlen nach oder wie sind eure Erfahrungen hier im Fediverse im Vergleich zu Twitter? Was koennt ihr anderen Unternehmen raten, die auch von Twitter weg wollen?

Oder habt ihr darueber schonmal gebloggt oder so?

Hi! I'm not sure if this is an issue with Friendica or the instance Nerdica.Net I'm using, that's why I tag both.

I recently deleted a few of my own posts which also included photos. I also deleted the photos manually from the uploaded photos. The posts do not show up anymore in the web UI.

Yesterday I logged in to phanpy.social (a Mastodon web client) with my Friendica account on Nerdica.net.
In my profile on phanpy.social, I can switch to "Media" posts - and I can see the already deleted posts again.

E.g. this one available on the phanpy.social web app:

Original post is deleted and it was deleted a few days before the login to phanpy:
nerdica.net/display/a85d7459-3…

It seems to only affect posts with images.
How is phanpy.social able to still get these posts although I deleted them?
The Fedilab app lists these posts as well although it cannot load them. Somehow they are still available from the API?

@hypolite @phil Yeah, caching is a thing. This kind of things can happen in other federated protocols as well, like XMPP: in one of my XMPP rooms someone posted something together with an image. Then the post was deleted. In some of my clients posts + picture are gone, in some other client only the post has been deleted, but the image still shows.

Gibt es eine Liste von Institutionen, die nach einem Jahr auf Mastodon bzw. im Fediverse festgestellt haben, dass das hier doch gar nicht so uebel ist, obwohl man nicht die grossen Followerzahlen hat?

Wie das immer so ist: wenn man mal was braucht, findet man es nicht mehr. Z.B. kam letztens ja was in Sachen BBC herum, gerne aber auch oeffentliche Verwaltung, etc...

Wie ich feststellen musste, wählt jetzt auch den Weg von DHL und der DB, was bzw. angeht: Für den Zugang zu Kundendaten, Rechnungen etc. soll man sich künftig eine App runterladen. Aktuell geht der Login zwar noch unter:

@meisterdieb @meet_judith @digitalcourage Wenn ich das von meinem Vater richtig verstanden habe, dann macht das die Beihilfe in NDS aehnlich: man muss quasi eine App nutzen, kann aber dann nur einen Account nutzen.
Das ist natuerlich unguenstig, wenn z.B. die zweite Person im Haushalt dies ebenso machen muss, aber in dem Fall meiner dementen Mutter etwas doof ist, wenn sie ihre PIN fuers Handy vergessen und final gesperrt hat.

Resultat: mein Vater musste ein zweites Handy für den Zweck kaufen

Ich beschaeftige mich grad mit ca. >80000 Fotos in Digikam und frage mich, wieso Digikam auf MySQL als DB backend setzt und nicht auf PostgreSQL wie frueher schon einmal.

Momentan migriere ich die Mysql DB von einer VM per Migrationsassistent auf eine lokale sqlite DB, weil das alles sooo schnarchenlahm ist, dass es keinen Spass macht.

Ich verstehe nicht, wie Mysql in den Ruf gekommen ist, eine schnelle Datenbank zu sein...

    @2ndStar Erm... erinnert mich irgendwie an die Klausur zu Datenbanken, wo ich keinen Bock darauf hatte, das ER-Diagramm anhand der Aufgabenstellung zu beschreiben, sondern mich rein auf die zu definierenden SQL-Abfragen gestürzt hatte.

    Ich hatte trotz der fehlenden Teilaufgabe mehr Punkte als so manch ein anderer, der die ER-Diagramme beschrieben hat und somit dann bestanden, da alle SQL-Abfragen richtig waren. 🤷‍♀️

    Da bestellste 2x SATA DOMs und trägst verschiedene Liefer- und Rechnungsadressen ein und ratet mal, an welche Adresse das Päckchen geliefert wird. Kleiner Tipp: es ist nicht dorthin, wo ich bin.

    @fzer0 Was meinst Du mit Diff?

    Unterschiede gibt es z.B. darin:

    1. iSCSI Platte gemountet als XFS
    2. NFS Mount mit ext4 im Backend auf der Synology.

    Aber das Synology muss auch nur noch bis heute durchhalten. Dann ist der Supermicro Server da und die Platten wandern dann dort rein - auch mit TrueNAS. Das Caching bei ZFS scheint echt gut zu sein und viel Leistung zu bringen.

    @fzer0 Nicht die Synology macht das Backup, sondern BackupPC auf dem vorhandenen Server. Das macht auch inkrementelle Backups, generiert dann aber massig Hardlinks, um den Speicherplatz gering zu halten. D.h. es finden viele IOPS statt und entweder ist ext4 grottig lahm fuer den Zweck (man kann es aber nicht aendern) oder das ZFS Cache haut derbe rein.

    Rein von der Leistung mit bonnie++ im Vorfeld getestet, sollte die Synology jedenfalls nicht so lahm sein.

    My wife @eugenialoli has been working on installing Linux on various old computers for which a lot of other options are now unsupported.

    She's been finding that machines with 2GB or RAM or 16GB of storage tend to struggle, whether while installing the OS, booting, installing common apps or running those apps.

    2GB of RAM is an incredibly large amount. As is 16GB of storage.

    WTF are we software people doing as an industry that makes us consume so many resources?

    @jbqueru @eugenialoli @LaF0rge well… what should the m68k port say? Most machines have a maximum of 128 MB RAM.
    Operating several m68k buildds for Debian was no fun under the pressure of a) being uptodate/keeping up and b) the missing interest of devs willing to support older archs.
    But m68k caught many bugs for i386/amd64 as well….

    Codeberg's performance is currently degraded. We are working on a fix.

    We performed an experiment with our storage settings (testing Ceph's resiliency) and did not expect that undoing the action takes x100 the time to do the change.

    @Codeberg uhmm, more than unusual setup. Better go for 3 nodes. Everything else won‘t make you happy, I fear. Been there, done that. Took my cluster down in a similar situation for like 2 days until it recovered…

    @gurubert @Codeberg Yeah, with a single server or even with 2 nodes I see no real use for Ceph. I learned that the hard way myself. Even a 3-node setup is not the best setup, but OK-ish and the minimum IMHO.
    For Codeberg I would also ask how many IOPS are expected or needed?
