I was called crazy because:

  1. I have all my music in my PC, so

  2. While I have an Spotify account I almost never use it, and worst of all

  3. I like to listen to full albums, from track 1 to the last, instead of the "Tough Mixes" playlists I always listen to

When I asked those enlightened individual what's exactly wrong about this, they couldn't answer, yet they maintain that I'm not well up there…=)

18 Does your antagonist eat healthy?

Yes and no. Our Hero can eat all the junk food you can throw at him with no ill effects, beyond the Godzilla-Class burps he emits when he eats more that decency allows. Same for healthy food. He can eat all the fruits and vegetables in the supermarket, and the only side effect will be those damn burps. The Standard Body™ can process all the nutrients in food, and, if needed, it can convert in energy the 100% of whatever the user eats…=)

12: How do you research real-world locations? Do you visit them?

Yes, in a way. Since Tenochtitlán is technically México City with a lake in the middle, when I need reference images I visit those places with google earth and street view. Now, since there are parts of the city in my story that doesn't exist (yet) in our reality, I use the same tools, and photos from other cities around the world (mostly Tokyo) as inspiration…=)

16: Any writing tropes you dislike, without insulting other club members?

Dislike, what you'd call dislike, no.

As that little piece of heaven-and-hell called TV Tropes taught us, "Tropes are tools".

Are there tropes I disagree with? Yes. Those I don't use, unless they can be useful for some "sinister" purpose. A deconstruction, for example.

How? Where? When? Why? Who? What?

That's up to the story…=)

06: Opening scene's theme song

The first scene is a terrorist attack. It isn't as destructive as it should've been, but more than a few die, all survivors will have to have a few anti-radiation showers, and there's "a little destruction" (Gen. Torres' words, not mine) =)

In my mind, that would be set to Christopher Franke's "Prologue", from Tenchi Muyo In Love OST.

24: Whatever

"What's the armor assembler?", you may ask.

It's a machine designed to build armors. Iron Man-like armors, theoretically. But, thanks to the Engineer's "holy-hands", it was reconfigured to build clothing with armor-like features. He paired it with the medical regenerator, who provided a matching design for the kind of bodies it builds, and The (gods-damned) Uniform™ was born. Cool, sexy, and absolutely impractical for everything. As it should be.

Day 11: A song you never get tired of

Yatta! - Happa-tai

Decency forbids me to link to any of the actual performances of the song, so we'll use THE best use of these tunes, the "Irrational Exuberance" video.

07 An action moment you're most proud of/Excerpt. 1/5

A shortened version of a scene from an unfinished story. Which I'll include in the current WiP just for the fun of it…>=)

Both cars collided. The murderer, one Reuben N. got out of his car and ran as if he wanted to escape the devil. Officer Creed got out of her patrol car and ran after him. She was hurt, her head ached, and there was some blood in her left shoulder, but that bastard…

12 Do you reread things you wrote some time ago? How do they stand up today?

Yes, I do. Sometimes I searching x thing and I find an old notebook. I then read it to see if there's one or two good ideas I can recycle. Most of the time there's more than that. The writing itself goes from "I can't believe I wrote this crap!" to "I can't believe I wrote this gold-laced crap!", with a few "Wow, this is cool! Did I really write this?" =)

Most hasn't aged well, though…=)

160 Hey, MC: music, art, or reading?

—I love reading but I have little time to do it. Or to do anything. This job has the worst scheduling. So I turned to music. I love music. Like that old song says, "I'm never alone cos' I can put on the earphones and let the the drummer tell my heart what to do". Or something like that. I can listen to music while I'm butchering kidnappers or drug dealers. It's better than listening to their pleas and screams…

my main PC decided to bluescreen me. 5 times in less than a hour. After a little and useless research I decided that age is probably the cause (it's a 10 year old system), and, as always, I'd have to use the force. Brute force, to be precise. After dis-and-reassembling with extreme violence, it's been working fine for several hours. I'm not even slightly calm. I know it. The time to build a new system is near, and that makes me extremely not-happy…

15: Should writers be honest about their politics online or keep quiet to avoid controversy?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No. Our political views are part of us, and they will "bleed" through our writings, be it stories, posts, whatever. We can tone down to avoid death matches, but we may never be able to completely hide them. And there will always be someone trying to start a controversy about anything. That's what we can avoid…

19 2 truths and 1 lie about your story

You can meet with your younger/older/other self…

You can change the past without consequences to your future…

You can get lost inside the time-ship…

You can have a free lunch…

(yes, I lied about the number of items in the list)

240 What inspired the idea for your latest WIP?

A dream. I saw a guy wearing what would become the Uniform™, and followed him around the city. I remember that I HAD to know what would someone who dressed like that would do. That guy became the F.F.F. Maistro. I added things from other dreams, like the weird design of the city, the moving buildings, etc., and everything that looks like a good idea at the time…=)

But yes, the original inspiration was that dream.

28 Do you target your work to a specific audience?

Yep. Me…=)

As they say, I write the stories I want to read, so my principal audience is me. When the day comes and I have something publishable, and there's someone that likes it, good for everyone…=)

1 About music, playlists, etc.

Yes. I write with music. I do everything with music or I go crazier…

I have a main playlist with almost all kinds of music. Over 10000 songs. From classical to metal to anime to salsa to rancheras to kids music to almost everything. I still use the venerable Winamp 5.what.ever, in shuffle mode. I made it with files I've get my dirty hands on since before the days of Napster…>=)

Does your MC or SC have any idiosyncrasies?

—Two that I know about. I walk. Not as in "I love walking in the forests". No. I simply start walking until I notice I'm doing it and go back to where I was. I have zero idea why I do it. And I change the order of sayings when I tell them to someone. "Better never than late", or "don't feed the hand that bites you", for example. One doctor told my parents it wasn't something to worry about. That I was just crazy. Ha!

09 Do you invent places in your work? Are any based on real locations?

I mostly modify real places. For this WiP, I sunk a good chunk of México City. Ok, I didn't do it. The Old Hag did it because she wanted her beautiful lake back.

She didn't asked anyone's permission. We humans dried up her lake without asking for her permission, so everything's ok, right? And she did it in two weeks, not overnight as some people insists, so no one was harmed in the process…=)

What you enjoy most about writing [genre/s].

—I WILL ANSWER THIS. I LIKE TO ANSWER THE MANY "WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF…" THAT COME WITH SCIENCE FICTION. AND I MIX THAT WITH ALMOST ANY GENRE. FANTASY, CRIME, THRILLER, ROMANCE, ETCETERA. I LIKE TO CREATE THE WORLDS WHERE THOSE QUESTIONS CAN BE ANSWERED. BUT MOST OF ALL, I LIKE TO TORTURE MY CREATIONS. THAT IS THE BEST PART OF BEING A CREATOR. IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE ME, JUST READ ANY HOLY BOOK…

150 What inspired the idea for your WIP?

A dream where I saw a guy dressed more or less like Our Hero & Friends, and I followed him to see where was he going. I saw many parts of the city in that dream. Then I mixed it with lots of previous and new dreams, ideas spawned while I'm awake, plus lots of things stolen…inspired from books, anime, tv, internet forums, etc…>=)

But, most of what I write comes from my dreams…=)

25: Oxford comma, no Oxford comma, or I don't live in Oxford?

I'm 100% Oxford comma. Since lists in spanish must have its elements separated by a comma (no matter what some media people say), it's one thing less to worry when I'm writing in english…=)

19: If you could remove one rule of grammar, which would you choose?

In Spanish, the verbal tenses. I'd left only past, present, and future. No pluscuamperfect preterit for me, thank you very much. Those are needed? Yes, but they're hell to learn.

In English (and Spanish), the semicolon. I still can't understand how to properly use it. To me, the Windows Registry is easier to understand than the semicolon rules…=-|

3 Who inspires you as a writer? Is it other writers? People in your life?

I get inspiration from everyone and everything. My main source are my dreams, where I can spend even months inside in one single dream (not one night, but one DREAM). But everything I see, listen, read, watch, etc. will serve to write something. The few friends that know I write are afraid to tell me what's going on with their lives because of this…>=)

10 Do you have favourite words you like to use? What are they?

Oh, yes. In English, Damn and Thing. It's a killer combo (just add big fries and diet coke) =)

In Spanish, it's the family of the verb Chingar ("To fuck", in all imaginable meanings). I use them, my characters use them, even the stray cats I feed use them (believe me, they do).

A few examples:

Me chingué: I'm screwed
Ya chingué: I did it/win
Chingadera: Something BAD
Chingoneria: Something GOOD

Hello everyone. I'm back from the almost dead. Follow my advice and avoid getting a throat/stomach infection plus a fall from the stairs combo because you might not like the wonderful things something like that can do to your body. Cool things like feeling so weak that you can't even sign something at the bank, or hallucinate with an "AI filter" =-|

Now, I'm not sure if being back is a good thing…>=)
