Days 1-6 of . The theme I chose is dusky-colored . The snippets I wrote are from the book Steal Like an Artist, by Austin Kleon. These are written in a Traveler’s Company notebook with lightweight paper, so it’s similar in performance to Tomoe River 52gsm paper, at least in my experience.

“You are, in fact, a mashup of what you choose to let into your life. You are the sum of your influences. The German writer Goethe said, ‘We are shaped and fashioned by what we love.” This quote was written in a plummy, grapey, wine-reddish ink by Rohrer & Klingner called Alt-Bordeaux.
“The artist is a collector. Not a hoarder, mind you, there’s a difference: Hoaders collect indiscriminately, artists collect selectively. They only collect things that they really love.” Written in a medium blue-gray ink by DeAtramentis called Document Fog Grey.
“Don’t wait until you know who you are to get started. Make things, know thyself….In my experience, it’s in the act of making things and doing our work that we figure out who we are.” Quote written in a medium sea green ink with blue undertones by Colorverse called NGC 6302.
“Carry a notebook and a pen with you wherever you go. Get used to pulling it out and jotting down your thoughts and observations. Copy your favorite passages out of books. Record overheard conversations. Doodle when you’re on the phone.” Written in a deep blurple ink called Purple Yam by Troublemaker Inks.
“The manifesto is this: Draw the art you want to see, start the business you want to run, play the music you want to hear, write the books you want to read, build the products you want to use — do the work you want to see done.” Written in a plummy, grapey, wine-reddish color very similar to the ink used on day 2: Jacques Herbin Poussière de Lune.

I fell prey to an Instagram ad for Flaunt iPhone cases, whose claim to fame is being a squared off case with lots of interesting designs. I couldn’t resist this “abalone” design, which reminds me a lot of the cool resin and/or raden that covet. It doesn’t translate well in this picture, but the case design has a really cool depth to it, not just an image of abalone shells embedded in black pearlescent resin.

Picture of the front of the iPhone case showing off the squared black edges which are decidedly less interesting than the back of the case. As a bonus, the iPhone Lock Screen has a graphic that looks like an open Game Boy Advance SP with a NES theme.
