I got a new fountain pen, and it has the trans flag colors! It's a Hongdian N9 with a "long blade" or architect nib. The nib took me a bit to get used to, but I find it gives particularly nice shading to my inks, and has a wet flow, which I appreciate.
Here I'm using Sailor Studio 024 ink and Cosmo Air Snow paper.
Two new fountain pens.
To my surprise, the Swipe EF is a wetter nib than the Jinhao. Not sure yet how much of that could be due to the ink.
As you can see, my right hand writing (25 days and counting) still needs some work. #FountainPens#TWSBI#Jinhao#handwriting#ambidextrous
Just FYI, for people who write a lot with mechanical pens, check out the Kuru Toga line with rotating lead engine. Every time you lift up your pen the lead rotates slightly which keeps your lead relatively sharp to a point. They are also very affordable at <$20 on amazon.
Just a note, they are inexpensive so despite some of them looking like metal they are light and plastic. But they seem high quality and dont break easily.
Un buen vino, un paseo, una buena conversación, un atardecer, un café con una amiga de toda la vida, tu canción favorita a todo volumen de vuelta a casa.
Esto puede curar casi cualquier herida.
However, due to my advanced #PIM processes, I rarely write things down on #paper.
I'd love to do so much more if there would be a great #FOSS solution for offline #handwriting#OCR. That would be a great investment by the #stationery industry! 🤔
It still offers better solutions compared to my #Boox#NoteAir#eink tablet.
It's all offered free of charge to broaden access, but for those that can, a suggested $10 contribution to the running costs is appreciated: https://bl.ag/tip.
Please #Boost to help reach more people that might like to indulge in these adventures in sign painting.
I've just finished working with Alice Mazzilli on her next 'Interowriting' column for BLAG, the fifth in her 'adventures in writing' series.
Alice will also be delivering a session at Saturday's BLAG Meet (https://bl.ag/meet), exploring the theme of handwriting, and its contemporary relevance in the ‘digital era’.
And you can join her while she writes; just have lined paper and your favourite writing instrument to hand.
Normally I'd love to help with projects like this #HandWriting#recognition task from the Australian War Memorial - because many people never learned to read or write cursive script, they need help to transcript the cursive handwriting of war letters.
But I also know that at some point, a startup is going to want that data for a handwriting recognition tool that's proprietary and available only as a paid service.
And that the market incentives will be too good for a government organisation not to sell that data.
So, no. I'm too cynical now to help with these sorts of projects ...
How can artificial intelligence be used to support humans instead of replacing them?
This presentation demonstrates how we integrated Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) into the FromThePage crowdsourcing platform while keeping the central role of humans in the transcription process.
Hello Friends, I need a little help reading a handwritten memo that I can't quite make out. I'll probably feel dumb if someone else can read it, but If anyone can decipher the parts I'm missing... #law#academia#handwriting#history
